  • Also received an email including asking to set up direct debit.

If they have £700+ of credit that moved over from Green, I'd like them to use that before setting up DD.

What happens if they say that a DD must be setup? Don't trust that they won't start taking money out as green did.
I take it that you cancelled your Green DD.
Shell's email about the tariff said we had 90 days to set up a DD, or be moved to a non-DD version of Flexible 6 with an extra charge. However, looking up the rates now, DD and non-DD appear to be the same?!
In any case, the 90 days implies you could postpone setting up the DD a bit longer (e.g. make it a Xmas present to Shell).

Have they said whether they will use the credit first then take money from the DD?

It feels as though we're at their mercy and tied in with them. With £700 in credit, that's a good 6 months of payments, and if they take money out of DD then who knows how long one would be forced to stay with them.

Can we tell them anything to force them to use the DD? Can we complain to anyone?
  • When you fill in the  on-line DD details it gets set up to start in December with the average monthly payment which they advise is £111.
They'll just have to adjust it when notice of the credit finally gets to our accounts.
  • When I set up my DD there didn't seem to be the option for a lower amount than they suggested. I suppose once they start getting meter readings they'll figure things out.

Anyone else had no emails or contact from Shell since they were announced as SOLR?

    Had 2 emails
    1) welcome to shell - 27th september
    2) tariff details - 7th october

Nothing since but I left green just before shell took over & was never on supply with shell

I have had a Green final bill recently but Shell are claiming my details have not been passed over to them yet to allow them to create a "dummy" account just to process the Green credit refund

The obvious concern is that my account is never passed over to Shell due to me leaving Green before Shell took over
  • I’ve had three e mails. The first, a welcome one when green collapsed, then nothing until I asked for tariff prices. A generic tariff price was sent out but I pressed for an economy 7 tariff price, since that one I have received nothing.
  • @tg99 This was the last general update that Shell issued at the end of last week, 26/11. Essentially pushing everything into December.

Note that Shell has been recognised by its customers for its high level of service. Presumably in a parallel universe.

Thx Inigo and Granniesue…..think I’ll call them tomorrow. I’ve had final bill from Green now with higher final gas reading than actual (had not got round to giving them reading but higher obv better) so want to see if Shell using the same.

Thx for this. Should receive something soon then though won’t hold my breath!
  • Thanks a lot.

Should we stick with shell, and if so are there any fixed rates, or move to another provider (though the market must be all over the place).
