Green Supplier Ltd switch to Shell Energy

Green sent me an email, ages ago, to say my DD had been cancelled. However, mine was a pretty straightforward case in that they went bust before my account was properly opened and they had taken my initial payment, which should now transfer to Shell.

We got an email from Green a month ago to say the DD was cancelled, not had anything from Shell yet.@JosephK - cancel your DD with Green. Your bank will take 24 hours before a cancelled DD is cancelled so best not delay. Look on the link - https://www.shellenergy.co.uk/blog/post/welcome-green-customers... when you get login details Shell will need you to set up a new DD as the Green ones do not transfer so cancel the Green DD.

Yesterday my Green account was updated with a new bill which is marked as a Cancellation bill. Basically it removed all the charges raised over the six months I was a Green customer, leaving me with a credit balance equal to the direct debits paid over that time. So I assume they will be issuing another one with final readings at 26 Sep. I just hope they use the readings I put on their website and not their own estimates again, which previously were way too high.1

Would not a high Green estimate save you money, as long as it was verified and accepted by Shell?

It would true, but that relies on them agreeing the readings. If I give Shell the right readings and Green use the same ones I'm happy. If Shell use my readings and Green use a higher one I will pay twice for some of it and wait possibly months to get that back. I'd rather pay a bit more and draw a line under it than have ongoing hassle!Verdigris said:Would not a high Green estimate save you money, as long as it was verified and accepted by Shell?0 -
The reading will be agreed, via a third party, so should always be the same for closing and opening.

Why would you pay twice? The reading that is used by Green to close will be the same one used by Shell to open so no double billing.Redrob28 said:

I'm sure that is true - eventually. On the Shell FAQs it says they will estimate your opening reading if they don't get a confirmed reading from Green administrators. I've already put the actual readings on my Green account so can't really give higher ones now to Shell.Verdigris said:The reading will be agreed, via a third party, so should always be the same for closing and opening.0 -
I've got the double headache of having left PfP for Green, Green going bust before they'd supplied a kWh and then being SoLR'd to Shell. Luckily I have meter reading that I submitted at every stage, written down and with photographic evidence. I just hope I don't have to use them in anger.

Shell account now open. Opening read agrees with what I submitted and has been verified.
