doesnt the value change?  External temperature changes would mean there is a volume discrepancy.
Apparently the value can change daily. There is a post on mse about calorific values.
  • Been following this thread for a while. Got my first Octopus bill just now and I've been charged 2 different rates for gas. Both as "Flexible Avro October
    2021 v1"

First rate to 30th Sept -
    Unit Rate 3.09p/kWh
    Standing Charge 22.71p/day
    (£82.89/year)

Then increased from 1st Oct -
    Unit Rate 3.75p/kWh
    Standing Charge 24.87p/day
    (£90.78/year)

I thought that the rate was set for 6 months with it being SoLR process? Have I misunderstood?

I think the new rate came into effect 1st Oct.

It used to be like that, I think. But it appears that Ofgem are now allowing SoLRs to change their prices when the price cap is reset (on 1 October & 1 April), so long as they keep within the cap.
Shell are doing similarly as the SoLR for Green.
Thank you - I forgot about the cap change on 1st Oct.

Do you reckon it'll stay the same until 1st April now? I asked on twitter, octopus said it is reviewed monthly - there was no change on 1st Nov though.

It won`t change until April if you were moved from Avro.

On 1st April, according to estimates from the likes of ML, were`re talking about a cap of about
    £1,650, but that`s speculation.
It will be based on current prices for the period between 1st Aug. to ?

The pricing period for the April cap will (or should be) 1st Aug 2021 to 31st Jan 2022.

Thanks for that, I wasn`t sure exact period and couldn`t find it on Google.
One things for sure, it`s going upwards.

My final AVRO bill became available last night and credit balance correct per my readings xferred to Octopus account.

Quick question - if DD goes out 7th, what is optimum date to send meter readings to get the best match between usage & payments?

Or does Octopus update the account balance on receipt of reading and again when DD credited? (Hope that makes sense)

I have my Direct Debit set to go out on the 25th of each month. I submit my meter readings on the last day of each month which is what most other energy suppliers I've used in the past preferred or insisted on (when we had some to choose from).
With Octopus submitting meter readings automatically triggers an up to date statement to be produced and the account balance on your Octopus Dashboard is automatically reduced when you submit the meter readings.

I am really getting concerned some will know my expected DD in Nov didn't happen despite bank confirming Octopus intent to start DD ) 2th Oct date Octopus contacted bank)...emailed Octopus and after 3 days got simply one line saying we will take first DD 12th Dec.   I also submitted meter reading as asked for by email 8days ago and nothing show on Octopus account.

All I can find is an Avro bill showing 12 days usage up to 26th Sept.

Is anyone else in this position...

There is no money showing on dashboard.
