The fact that they are still discussing how to treat customers monies after Avro Energy ceased trading is worrying for anyone who has had DD payments taken by Avro.
I fully agree with this, the fact there's any question of what happens to payments made to Avro post-collapse is concerning, especially as Octopus urged customers NOT to cancel Avro DD's.
I regret delaying cancelling the Avro DD, but am still optimistic it will all come out right in the end. It looks like Octopus might have painted themselves into a corner with their advice not to cancel Avro DDs. Even as they get further readings from ex-Avro customers, how can they bill them for utilities they have actually used without a starting balance or payments that may have gone to Avro or their administrators? It must be killing their cashflow!

Quite. If Avro's administrators have been using Avro DD's to pay off creditors with no intention of passing the money to Octopus, Octopus will have to cover any shortfall in balances themselves IMO, having urged people not to cancel DD's. How Octopus then recoups those costs, whether via Last Resort Supply Payments or otherwise, is up to them.

Anyone find that electricity usage is behaving oddly since being with Octopus? My usage is extremely different week to week even though I am doing the same things!!
Max68 - are you taking the usage from the meter or the smart meter in home display.  For the latter my usage is behaving very oddly - between 25 and 40 KWH per day but the actual usage when I read the meter is more in line with normal

No creditors will have been paid at this point, it is too early in the process for that to have happened.

And we've also heard multiple reports of people being refused direct debit refunds made to failed energy suppliers. It's all starting to stink a bit.
I haven't. Is this something you are able to provide a credible source for?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

There have been quite a few posted comments from those who were denied by their banks citing the business failure as the reason.
You'd have to search for them, but they are certainly there.
There is also the fact that regardless of the business failure, you can't just get a DD reversed because you changed your mind, it does need an error to have occurred that qualifies under the DD guarantee. It is specifically not to be used to settle contractual disputes for example...

We’ve worked on 3 ‘supplier of last resort’ processes before - Iresa, Gen4u and GoEffortless. It is unusual for this (in our experience) to have taken so long, but each administrator is different and so has different processes they like to follow.

I see they're having another dig at the administrators  :D

Are Avro DDs still being taken?

It depends whether you call people posting on a forum credible. Personally I would find it a quite an odd thing for multiple people to lie about.
  • Considering further, I think my own payments are not in potential dispute as this relates to "treatment of the monies collected in the period between Octopus being appointed as Supplier of Last Resort and the Administrator being appointed by the Courts".

This, I believe, relates to the three-day period between 26 September 2021 and 29 September 2021.
