Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

  • I was a Outfox customer until 30 September 21. I should have become a Avro customer on the 1 October. however they went bust, so I was never a customer of theirs. Outfox have now produced a final bill and also paid credit back into my bank. I phoned Octopus to see if they wanted the final bill reading, they stated that they will have to wait till they receive it from Avro which does sound correct. However when my son phoned today they took the final reading and it showed in his account dated the 1 October. Has anyone else had two different responses from Octopus?

I had an email in October from Octopus, they asked me to submit my final meter reading- used the link in the email to access my new Octopus account. I put in the readings I took on the day Avro went bust.

There was an Octopus email weeks later asking me for my meter readings, which I did though, that wasn't showing when I logged in the other day.

Two days ago I got the email from Octopus confirming the final Avro bill was ready- it was showing on both my old Avro account and the new Octopus account. The credit remaining after that final Avro bill payment was shown as a credit in the Octopus account.

Would assume anyone still waiting will be hearing soon.

Octopus had said they were having to wait a bit longer than they'd expected for all the stuff from Avro. The messages are on the Octopus site too.

Has anyone had a final bill from Avro using estimated readings?

Does anyone know who is responsible for correcting the final Avro bill?

I've had our 'final' Avro bill but it's used estimated readings instead of the actuals - even though I put the actuals for 26 Sept into the Avro website in late Sept (I have photos of the meters and screenshots of what I entered into the Avro website).  The estimates are quite a bit more than the actuals so Avro have billed too much money.

(Octopus are using the true actuals to start their billing.)
I gave readings for Avro bills using the 23/9/21 but Octopus didn't take over the billing until the 26/9/21 and my reading from the end of the 25/9/21 was around 16390 compared to 16366 on my bill done on the 22/9/21.
Even the gas reading which they only billed me for thee SC hadn't increased as the gas reading of 1868 on the 23/9/9/21 was still the same on the 26/9/21. I used about £3.60 of electric in the few days, 23/9 to 26/9/21, 24 kWh. If the administrators send me a bill for the £3.30 I will pay that but if they send it to a debt collector I will contest it saying that I wasn't sent any communication saying I owed Avro the money before the bill was sold to a debt collector. I bet load of companies just sell debts onto collectors when they haven't made any attempt to contact the person that owes the money.
Someone please tell me what money is

Help!! I haven’t had a final statement yet but Octopus are reading my Smets2 meters. Can someone explain the Gas increase in percentage terms? I am not good with these things BUT 2 million percent???????
I expect you have an L+G G470 meter? If you look at the half-hour readings you'll see there will be one or two very large spikes, those are actually hex read error codes sent by your meter but interpreted by the DCC as a consumption value.
They have no impact on the meter index which is what it used for billing, so while they are annoying, they are nothing to worry about.
Just look at the meter index either on the meter itself or via your IHD and you will see the actual reading is unaffected.

Ok thanks. The Electric meter on octopus website is shown as L+G E470 but the gas meter is not ‘described’ nor do I wish to dive in a dark dingy corner under the stairs to check the type of gas meter. But,yes, the readings on the IHD seem ‘normal’ albeit higher due to cold weather of course.

Hey guys, Not the most important question at the moment, but do Octopus provide Smart meter displays (Or whatever they are called)? I have a Smart (SMETS1) meter and Avro never issued one.

If not, is there a universal one you can purchase?

    Thanks

I too have a smet1 that went dumb, it's been years since I got it and i no longer have the display tablet either. I'm hoping if they manage to zap my meter into working they should supply a personal reader?

Hopefully the Octopus systems are more up to date than their address database. Humberside ceased to exist in 1996 and hasn't been on the Royal Mail database since 2014!

I've finally got round to working out my percentage increase in charges after being moved from Avro to Octopus and wow. It looks bloody stark in black and white and I guess lots of people will be having to grapple with these type of figures.

My electricity standing charge is up by 37.5% with the unit rate up by 23.74%.

The gas standing charge has risen by 23.59% and the unit rate has soared by a massive 51%.

Almost wish I hadn't done the maths.

Today I put in another set of readings, the third lot since going to Octopus.
Once again the credit immediately went down and the gas balance history showed the usage and charge.
    All correct.
The balance or history for electric has never shown and no money has ever been taken for the electric usage.

I have never received an actual bill for either supply since I went with them.
The only actual bill I have received is the final Avro.
