So the Octopus DD setting is only a suggestion providing the customer agrees with it.
That said, I am aware that some customers are somewhat irrational.
Emails Octopus send out re payment changes regarded as a suggestion, customer is invited to reply saying what he/she wants monthly payment to be
It would seem, however, from the twitter post you reported earlier, that Octopus can choose to ignore any such reply.
I accept that we don't know the full details of the twitter exchange you reported but it seems Octopus can ignore the amount 'suggested' by their online system.

Customers can contact Octopus via different methods, twitter, email, phone  querying why cannot change monthly payment within online account,
Ultimately unless someone wants to pay by monthly budget scheme seems a lot easier to me to change to full payment after bill is produced by direct debit, holding no credit with them

My final EDF bill was at 03/10/21. According to the Octopus website they are my gas supplier from today. The electricity says they aim to be my supplier by today.
My question is what dates will be covered by Avro (4/10 to 6/10??) and which rates will I be paying from 4/10 to 6/10?

Avro had already lost its license by that point so you will be on the Octopus tariff from 4/10.
The actual change to the supplier ID may have only just happened but that doesn't affect when the Octopus tariff started.

Ok thanks. So all I will have to wait for from Avro is my credit balance.

Any balance owed from Avro will be transferred to Octopus and should appear on your account there.
If you still have a DD with Avro it would be best to cancel that now and set up a new one with Octopus.

Unless you pay by DD, however, I understand the supplier is entitled, by Ofgem rules, to charge a higher capped rate.

Finally received the email today, from Octopus, saying everything is now complete and transferred.

Just been onto the old Avro account and downloaded a copy of the final bill. Our credit balance should be on the Octopus account automatically.

I cancelled my Avro DD the day it was announced they'd gone bust. Set up a new one with Octopus late November, though the credit amount from Avro will cover the energy costs between then and now.

Can anyone help with an enquiry about Octopus. I have Smets1 smart meters that were originally installed by Shell and when I moved to the property I switched to Avro who said I would have to do manual readings because they couldn't get readings from the meters. Now I'm with Octopus they are showing me figures for energy consumption on a daily basis outside of the readings that I submit once a month. How can they know what the daily usage is if the smart meters are effectively dead?

I believe Avro didn't have a system in place to automatically take smart meter readings and use them for billing purposes. Octopus do have this system in place

Thanks. Does that mean it's a pointless exercise me reading these meters and sending them in as they asked me to do?
