If your Octopus account says that they are reading your smart meters then no, there's no point in giving them readings.digannio said:Thanks. Does that mean it's a pointless exercise me reading these meters and sending them in as they asked me to do?

Even with my SMETS2 meters, Avro didn't seem able to get the readings; I had to submit them manually. When I enquired about this, they said that they'd have automatic meter submissions sorted out in a few months. What happened in a few months was that they went bust.digannio said:Can anyone help with an enquiry about Octopus. I have Smets1 smart meters that were originally installed by Shell and when I moved to the property I switched to Avro who said I would have to do manual readings because they couldn't get readings from the meters. Now I'm with Octopus they are showing me figures for energy consumption on a daily basis outside of the readings that I submit once a month. How can they know what the daily usage is if the smart meters are effectively dead?1 -
Well, my charges might have soared but at least I won't have to freeze my nuts off at the meter cupboard once a month.QrizB said:

I have now been transferred to Octopus, however online it is showing 2 gas meters serial numbers one with six numbers and one with eight number. The only difference is the one with eight numbers starts with 00. Has anyone else had this? I will have to phone them tomorrow.

I had a direct debit payment taken from my bank account, and shortly afterwards my Octopus Energy Account says Pending payment, A payment hasn't yet been applied.
How long does it take for them to apply the payment to your account and does anyone know why there is a delay?0 -
It’s about 3 days. There is nothing untoward going on: DDs are not faster payments.wakeupalarm said:I had a direct debit payment taken from my bank account, and shortly afterwards my Octopus Energy Account says Pending payment, A payment hasn't yet been applied.

Whilst that is true, people have been used to payments getting credited on date that direct debit gets taken, both modern platforms as well as British Gas original platform ....

Copy of a reply that I received today in response to asking them why they had not taken a direct debit that I set up last month. Cancelled Avro direct debit before November payment due.
I can confirm that a direct debit has been set up with us but the payment amount has been set to 'variable' instead of 'fixed'. With this option, you won't pay the same amount every month. Instead, you just pay for what you use based upon your exact consumption for the month. And the balance on your monthly statement would be taken in full each month 10 working days after your bill is produced.
Since we are still working on transferring your account from Avro to us we still haven't billed you for any usage and consequently, no DD payments could have been collected.
I'm more than happy with this arrangement. No build up of credit. Submit readings then enter figures in my spreadsheet and I create my own bills. Put the money aside in a separate savings account.
Total bill as at 01/12/21 £152.77 (Had £130 in credit with Avro so technically owe £22.77)3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds2 -
Some SMETS 1 meters can be read by other suppliers, my SMETS 1 meter, installed by BG, can be read by Octopus and I have 30 minute reading on my account for electric but recently the daily readings are not daily and turn up a few days later.digannio said:Can anyone help with an enquiry about Octopus.
