Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

With all that is going on with increases in electric and gas I don't see the energy providers decreasing prices when they decrease especially an SoLR who took over failed suppliers.
They will keep the present prices until they have made as much of the lost money they can get back by keeping the prices high. Those coming of fixed rates, that suppliers lost money on supplying, will try and get them onto another fixed rate that makes the money back on the money they lost during the fixed rate period.
Could we see people doing as our grandparents or great grandparents did and turn off everything not in use at the socket, pulling the plug out of the socket, even the cooker, microwave and other appliances that use power in standby mode leaving only a maximum of three items using power 24/7 and they would be the fridge, freezer and router?
I'm saving 18 kWh per week doing this, I questioned this method when my grandmother was alive but now I see how her electric bills were so low. Using about 4 kWh per week or around 20 kWh per month her standing charge was more than her quarterly bill.Someone please tell me what money is1

May I ask what the list was on stand by that added up to approx 107 watts per hour?wild666 said:With all that is going on with increases in electric and gas I don't see the energy providers decreasing prices when they decrease especially an SoLR who took over failed suppliers.

Yes, anyone who thinks Octopus are being slow at following prices down can switch to Tracker, or Agile, and follow the day-ahead prices themselves.MWT said:wild666 said:With all that is going on with increases in electric and gas I don't see the energy providers decreasing prices when they decrease especially an SoLR who took over failed suppliers.Octopus have tariffs that track the wholesale prices, so it will be very obvious if they are not reacting to falls in the cost when they do occur...

The list was everything that is on standby that the user didn't need on at the time and includes TV, DVD player, games console(s), PC/Laptop & monitor, surround sound systems, smart speakers, stereo's, charging leads, cooker, microwave, washer, dishwasher, shower light and any other appliances that are normally left in standby mode.Merlin139 said:

The estimates are quite a bit more than the actuals so Avro have billed too much money.(Octopus are using the true actuals to start their billing.)
Raise it with Octopus. They should use the same readings as the final bill from Avro. If they do, it will be in your favour.
victor2 - as I said, Octopus are using the true actuals to start their billing (otherwise I wouldn't be too bothered). I emailed Octopus and they've told me that they can't change the Avro final bill so I've emailed Octopus back to ask who I need to contact (and how to contact them).

If they can’t change Avro final bill then surely they should use the estimated readings that Avro used.Sam_84 said:victor2 said:Sam_84 said:Has anyone had a final bill from Avro using estimated readings?Does anyone know who is responsible for correcting the final Avro bill?I've had our 'final' Avro bill but it's used estimated readings instead of the actuals - even though I put the actuals for 26 Sept into the Avro website in late Sept (I have photos of the meters and screenshots of what I entered into the Avro website). Yes - it is hugely frustrating - I am waiting to hear back from Octopus
