Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

I took photographs of my meter readings on Wednesday afternoon as soon as I heard Avro had gone under.
Are those the readings that Octopus will want or readings as of now?0

I too received what appears to be the generic email that many/everyone appears to be receiving. I say generic because my Avro account is now closed (change of tenancy due to my house move 4 weeks ago) and was awaiting a credit payment. So ATM Octopus don't really know that they are not actually supplying me personally although they are supplying my old address! Fingers crossed they are able to work out what my situation is and bill the new homeowner of my old address!
Still am reassured that Octopus have picked me up from the Avro database of customers (albeit from recently closed accounts awaiting settlement).0

You keep saying Octopus is expensive.xlnc99 said:Energy prices going one way and that is up - why anyone would even bother going for a Variable rate is beyond me
Why don`t you post a fixed tariff that`s cheaper than Octopus capped SVR tariff @ £1277.
 There isn`t any.
 23-28 p for electricity
 6-8 for gas
what a farce - one of the most expensive tarrifs ive seenYou've not looked at the right tariffs, that's why. Stop looking at the comparison sites and look at what Octopus is actually offering you as a former Avro customer.Flexible Octopus October 2021 v1 in my region is:- Elec 24.11 p/day plus 20.11 p/kWh
- Gas 23.85 p/day plus 3.95 p/kWh
And it won't change until the price cap does, most likely April 2022.
That tariff is about £40 below price cap, Octopus have said Avro customers will have Flexible tariff £10 below price cap which indcates will be slightly more expensive0

Existing Octopus customers on various flexible Octopus tariff varieties would get 30 days notice of any change in rates over and above already notified which takes effect from middle October which are same as Flexible Octopus October 2021 v1 (approx £50 below price cap)andreww111 said:

Yes - me. The gas reading is showing but the electricity reading is not. On the old site, both readings show. I took screenshots of when the readings were successfully submitted on the new site as proof, along with photos of both meters.pearl123 said:I've just given my elec/gas on the Avro site, via the email link from Octupus. However, on the Avro site it is not showing the updated figures. Anyone, else have this issue?1

I know Ofgem said you can if you want, but I was wondering why Consumerist did if they think it's going to take sometime to switch. Regardless of the time scale the energy being used now will still need to be paid for.rjmachin said:LippyDoodle said:
So why stop your dd if you think it's going to take sometime to switch? If that happens you could find your in debt.Consumerist said:I cancelled my Avro DD which was due for payment a few days after they ceased trading. Octopus web site says it expects new accounts to be up and running in 14 days (really?) so by then a new DD should be set up and ready to go seamlessly.I'll believe it when I see it. To set up 600,00 new accounts in 14 days seems to me to be a bit of a tall order - particularly after Avro.
The Ofgem website said you can cancel the direct debit if you want to0

As far as i am aware, a reason to cancel, would be that sometimes (apparently) despite the process supposedly being smooth, it can take months to get any credit you are owed back.

Enter your postcode here (ignore the "get a quote" button) and look for "Flexible Octopus October 2021 V1". That's their current SVT.DeletedUser said:I do hope its SVT or better, Octopus website quote for my usage:- £2,253
Thanks! Missed your post, i'm still a bit rusty.

my dd was due today and there was a possibility BG might be solr. That was reason enough for me to ensure the solr would use my credit rather than a dd going to avro/limbo.
ofgem state it is fine to cancel dd so i did. I have ample credit and wont be spending my dd.0
