xzibit said:Had a strange situation yesterday. Paid for a meal with my chase card. As soon as I had tapped the terminal my phone got a notification as normal saying ‘you spent £x at XXXX’ however the staff member said their card reader had said the payment had failed. So I opened the app and had a quick look and sure enough the transaction was there, money had been debited from my balance and the cash back was pending as per all transactions. They were convinced the payment hadn’t gone through, however on seeing the confirmation in my app they decided that perhaps it was their issue and said they’d contact me if they didn’t receive the money. We then left.About an hour later the transaction had completely disappeared from my account and my balance had returned to the amount before we had tried to pay. Which meant trudging back to pay again, this time successfully.Has anyone else had this glitch? Hopefully it doesn’t happen again, was a little frustrating.0

Essentially Chase show pending transactions as settled, which works most of the time but can be confusing in scenarios such as this. I had to explain that to a customer with a Monzo account where the transaction failed, but was authorised (they have a similar way of showing things).

I generally get emails from Chase, but occasionally I get messages on my phone and I can see part of them on the main screen when I unlock. However I can't find them!
Recently there was a message beginning "In 90 days time....." I clicked on it and it opened the app. I logged in and it took me to the normal account page. I couldn't find anywhere to view messages. No obvious places referenced 90 days.
Any ideas on how I can locate/read these messages when they come in?

I had it twice last year, two different occasions, but same merchant.
Bought a train ticket in-app. Processed. Money off my account balance and change to round-up.
Later that day, fare transaction disappeared, account balance restored, less my round up (which remained in Round Ups account).
Free train travel. Great!
Only no, the early hours of the following morning, the transaction left my account again, and this time stayed gone. Not unduly concerned as I had used the train after all.
When the same thing happened a few months later, I was not concerned and had an idea of what would happen, and sure enough, it did.
Still no idea why though tbh.1 -
For those thinking of using their Chase debit card for online purchases, you might wish to read the thread below:

Chase say that it has yet to launch vendor repayments to debit cards. I apologise if this has been mentioned before in the 170 preceding pages.0 -
i had a refund to my Chase debit card last week with no.problem.1

I had a partial refund from Amazon just yesterday, and many before that from a range of retailers. This looks like an issue specific to a transaction or merchant. The fact that it worked when they tried again suggests human error or technical glitch.

This looks like an issue specific to a transaction or merchant.I was responding mainly to the suggestion this would impact those making online purchases. That's right. Chase do not accept account credits via card. This has come up a few times. It's not like paying a credit card bill (where the options are either debiting another card or bank transfer/DD). Examples would be crypto trading or other forms of gambling, where withdrawals are processed directly to the card, but are not a refund of a purchase. Chase is probably not a good account to use for such things, and that was raised very early on in the thread. For normal purchases (consumer goods and services), where a refund would not normally exceed the amount you paid, there wouldn't be an issue, and merchants should be processing these as refunds to protect themselves from chargebacks after sending the credit. Even in circumstances where you might be owed compensation, this can normally be paid via other means. It's just refunds that retailers tend to insist go to original method of payment. This might be of relevance:crumpet_man said:I recall something about MasterCard issued debit cards not accepting credits other than refunds from a purchase which was made on that card. For example, cashing out from an online gambling site or investment account.0
