May take a look after my Lloyds ultra 1% cashback offer finishes. Don’t want to have too many ‘you have this offer for one year’ type offers going on simultaneously, but looks great! Shame it isn’t on everything though

The cashback landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Some offers are capped, others are time limited, some only cover specific purchases (and you need to hope the retailer has correctly coded), others require money locked away in low interest accounts, and/or some force a minimum number of monthly transactions. Holding multiple cards with complimentary cashback offers could mean a difficult choice as to which card to use for a particular purchase!

Very true, I'm now juggling with 3 CCs for everyday spend, although when the Chase 2% offer kicks in come July all eligible spend will go through that.

Made more complicated if you are also using gift cards to get 3-5% discount on supermarket/other spend (and paying for those cards with a 1% cashback CC).

There's also the targeted cashback/discount deals from banks/cashback sites which take far too much time to monitor if you use more than a couple but do occasionally throw up good deals (had 10% off a shop at Waitrose last week from Lloyds).

t definitely feels like cashback is getting more complicated rather than simpler now. Between capped offers, category restrictions, and short-term promos, it’s not as straightforward as it used to be.

I get why people end up juggling a few different cards, but at some point it almost becomes a bit of a hobby keeping track of it all. For me, if a deal stops being easy to use day-to-day, I tend to just stick with whatever is simplest rather than chasing every extra percent.

That Santander offer does look decent though on paper—just depends how much effort you want to put in for the return.

I get that completely. I reached a point after multiple bank switches where I made over £1k, to not even caring anymore whether or not I was getting a few quid back from Chase on a few grocery spends. Effectively, I've grown bored of chasing a few quid here and there, that 'hobby' has come to an end. I can no longer be bothered to put that effort in to juggle the cards for the returns.

I dislike conditional cashback offers (and debit cards). Remembering which purchase qualifies for which cashback is just too much hassle. I’d rather use a credit card which gives me cashback on everything, so I passed on the Chase offer, and will pass on the Santander one, too.
