They cancelled my bills too, I reckon I owe nearly 6 months worth!

It makes no sense. I've just received an email to say my statement is ready. I logged in and it's a new statement for exactly the same amount as the statement that was added yesterday and then reversed earlier today. I can't view the PDF for some reason, but the summary shows that it covers the exact same gas kwh as the statement I paid in December (which was reversed yesterday). Meanwhile it doesn't cover any electricity usage.

What on earth are they actually doing?

This happened to my mum too - this seems to be because British Gas had a date in October as the start date for everyone until PFP transferred all their information on 11th March.

You can ask British Gas to rebill your account now, and the bill will be from the original starting date, 11th September instead.

British Gas did this for us, but their new "opening read" was woefully incorrect by 1500kwh. I had to supply evidence of the latest reads we had from PFP account screenshots we took on the day they went under and photos of the meter from 11th September, which they accepted and updated that opening read - so double check your rebill!

Got the PDF of the bill today.

British Gas are still treating the 8th October as their account start date (or the date they actually transferred the account through the normal transfer system), which is why they've tacked on that 28 days standing charge manually...

But that means they're using the 11th September reading as the opening read, but dated the 8th October.

That means, because 11th-31st September was covered by the April-September 2021 price cap, British Gas are overcharging every SOLR'd customer for those 3 weeks, as they're applying the October 2021 cap to those units. I can't quite understand why they think they can get away with this.
  • Has anyone heard anything from British Gas? All I've had is a letter dated 11th January 2022 stating that my estimated supply start date is 20th January 2022. I've also had my final PFP bill up until 11 September where I had a bit of credit to transfer over the British Gas. So who knows what's going to happen about the time between 11 September and 20th January 2022!?

I haven't paid for any electricity in over 6 months now! I'm expecting a big bill

How much money are we talking here for the difference in standing charge for 3 weeks?

I’m not saying I wouldn’t want this sorted but I’d like to get it into perspective.

Standing charge is the same as far as I can tell, but the price cap for units for her southern region was 17.935p per kWh, and is billed at 19.695p per kWh. She's in an electric only home, so my best guess from the reads we have, and the ones on the bill is that she used 537kwh between 11th September and 1st October = £9.46.

It's not groundbreaking sums of money here, but that's not really the point!

    I totally agree.
I personally have a very strong sense of fairness as do many other MSEs.

I just want to know how high on the “to do” list it should be, especially when many others will be pointing it out so we’ll likely see cancelled and replaced bills eventually.

I'm certainly not suggesting forgetting about it.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention,
  • Debt from PfP has been applied to my gas account with British Gas. I had complaint open with them and at the beginning of July they agreed to recalculate my bills due to faulty gas meter. It took them so long to recalculate and send me new bill, that they went bust and now I'm saddled with paying for usage which wasn't real. I don't see a way to complain to anybody about it. I doubt administrator will want to discus it and recalculate my bill based on previous agreement.
