You'll get your credit, but will be back of the queue. It's easier for BG to apply the credits to open accounts so they'll be doing that first. They will then deal with people who are no longer BG customers and were never customers.deanos said:Amy idea what may happen with my situation , i put in a switch to Sainsbury's when pfp went bust the elec went through to them ok but gas went to BG , this was then switched to Sainsbury's a week later , any idea where my money might of gone ? My bg account just says closed when I log in
I'm in a similar situation as I left BG after about 6 weeks. Once final bills from PFP turn up then you'll at least have a figure for the account credit and you can get in touch with BG and ask them. Not forgetting you probably owe them for some energy used between 11th September and an arbitary point in October if your account ended like mine.0 -
You have a little longer to wait, according to the British Gas help page: https://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy/pfp-energy.htmldeanos said:Amy idea what may happen with my situation , i put in a switch to Sainsbury's when pfp went bust the elec went through to them ok but gas went to BG , this was then switched to Sainsbury's a week later , any idea where my money might of gone ? I've only just received my Avro credit this week - customers who were switched to Octopus when Avro went bust got their credits weeks ago.0 -
Thanks folks , I think my actuall credit would just be enough to cover the outstanding bill anyway0

When PfP went bust, I jumped to Neon Reef with electricity, which went bust 2 months later and I was SOLR to BG again. I received credit from PfP electricity to my BG account. Now waiting for credit from Neon Reef.0

I owe money to both PFP and neon and have not heard from either of them about a final bill yet. Maybe people are being sorted out in batches.0

It won't cost them (PFP, or BG for that matter) it will cost us.devondiver said:Refund received into my BG account (finally!!) was c.£20 up on actual usage. If I ever get a closing bill from PFP it will be interesting to see how they managed that - and whether other customers received similar bonuses - which might cost them a tidy sum if applied across the board.
Us?? I thought you jumped ship before the cheap fixes came to light - which I tried to highlight c.mid-January - but got knocked back by someone (not you of course).
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0 -
I interpret that as the cost won’t come to the defunct companies but will ultimately fall on the consumer.devondiver said:bagand96 said:

BG will be able to claim their SoLR costs from Ofgem, including the cost of honouring credit balances. Ofgem raise that money by industry levies, which is of course passed on to the consumer - see how much the SC are increasing in April on the Ofgem price cap.devondiver said:bagand96 said:

You're right I jumped ship before the loopholes came to light although I got on an octopus loophole. Not quite as good as the BG ones but it is fixed until Nov 2023 so I'm happy enough.0 -
Got a letter in the mail over the weekend from BG to confirm that my credit has been paid to my BG account, although I already saw it on my online account the other week. Still no sign of a final bill from PFP though0

Has anyone not had a bill from British Gas yet since the PFP switchover? Sorting my mum's account, she has a smart meter that is logging readings properly on her account, and has been paying DD to British Gas since the moment they setup her account last year so is in loads of credit - but no first bill yet.
I'd kinda like them to start the billing so I can make sure it's all working properly before the price cap change.0
