PfP Energy ceases trading - here's everything you need to know

I've finally been transferred to Shell, via Green, so I think I must be safely out of the clutches of BG, apart from settling my final PfP account.

I have a electricity meter reading on my BG page, (not sure I can call it account as have Customer ref. but no Account Number), and it's the one I gave to the BG operator on 06 October! Here's hoping this is used as my BG opening read as it will reduce the hike in price. Fingers crossed.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/660

I've had my first bill from BG! The reading from 30th Sept finally appeared then they estimated for the 15th and billed me for that period. I've been emailed the bill and a thanks for payment swiftly followed.
The reading from 30th has also now appeared on PFP.1 -
I'm still seeing no readings on the BG side and nothing new on the PFP side0

thats me gone from british gas to sainsburys , does my peoples energy credit go to british gas ?0

I see on my BG account that my payment method is shown as Cash/Cheque. I note also that it says:
Q: What happens if I change my payment method? If you move from Direct Debit to pay by cash or cheque your unit rate will increase. We will give you seven working days notice before changing your payment method.
Does anybody know if the converse is true? i.e. If I change my payment method from Cash/Cheque to DD, will my unit rate decrease? Has anybody set up a DD yet, or do we have to wait until BG informs us that the switch is complete? (though it looks to me as though mine has completed).

I am same as well. The BG tariff shown only lists cash/cheque as the payment type. But them saids that going from DD to cash/cheque increase the tariff. I haven’t set up a DD yet and currently intend to pay by my 0.5% cash back credit card. But obviously don’t want to pay any more than I need! The DD they show for changing to one of their fix term deals is £464 a month!0

Luckily, despite the advise not to switch I started a switch to Sainsbury's energy which I understand is operated by E.ON.
The switch initially failed a few weeks back & I only noticed last Friday, I emailed them asking what to do & they tried again & said I'd get the original Tarif I tried.Today I'm ported to Sainsbury's from BG.BG wanted 20.680p per kWh 24.113p per day*
Sainsbury's / E.ON 19.82p/kWh 17.26p/day
its a saving non the less.waiting for a switch to happen before switching to a preferred provider is terrible advice. I could have locked in a much better rate had I switched earlier,
I was with Utility Point for Gas, its now with EDF and luckily on their capped rate
Utility Pointy 2.596p 24.832p
EDF 4.169p per kWh 26.12p per day
for giggles I did a comparison with Sainsburys too
9.26205p 37.17p
UP owe me ~£300 so i was keen not to upset that but again I could have got a cheaper rate had I just switched when UP went bust.
I've just locked my mortgage at 0.79% which has cost me £2k (I had locked at 1.29% in June @ 1k and now this @1k. )
Lets hope 2022 is better!!0 -
A word of warning - please check your bills/meter reads. I have been moved from PFP to BG, and
1. the starting meter read recorded on the website was completely wrong
2. they amended the above, they sent me an energy statement, but there is a massive mistake, as they believed my gas meter is imperial, while it is metric! I still need to address this, but please do check your opening meter reads and that everything is fine!0 -
My bill from BG is fine, but PFP have put a balance on my account that I supposedly owe, with no bill as yet. The balance is too small for the hundred days I was with them. They've never billed me or taken a direct debit. How long did the rest of you usually wait for a bill you could check after they put a balance online?0
