Today I set up payment by DD with BG. It was pretty straightforward and said I would be paying £114pm. On completion of that I returned to my account where it said I was paying £175pm, but also that that was too much. On going to change my payment amount it said they recommend I pay £98pm to 'stay on track' (so far I've not changed it).

Any guesses as to what my first DD payment is likely to be???

It was also a bit odd that they said they'd sent details confirming my DD setup to an old email address (that I used when I was last with BG many years ago). In reality it actually got sent to my current email address.

British Gas haven't contacted me apart from one text ages ago.  No contract pack, no email, nothing.  I managed to register on their website using my pfp email address.  However, when I try and login, it just says technical error, try again later.  Their app is even worse, it doesn't recognise my details, but when I try and register on it, it says you are already registered, please login!  Am in limbo at the moment with british gas, and have no idea what it is costing me to keep the heating on at the moment.  Also have £400+ in credit with pfp... other swaps (even as a SOLR) have gone much, much smoother.  Not a fan of British gas at the moment!

Well, to answer my own question, having received a payment plan from BG it appears they say I will pay £175pm. But on my account it says:

    £175 per month Direct Debit
You're paying too much (End of plan balance: £772 in credit)

and when I go to change my payment amount (which apparently is only possible for the 2nd and subsequent months) it says

You are currently paying £175 per month. We need to reduce this so we don't owe you any money at the end of your plan. We recommend you should pay £98 to stay on track.

So I do as they recommend and change the payment amount to £98. It then says:

Your current payment of £175 is due in the next few days and will be taken as usual.
We'll start taking your new amount of £98 from 1st December 2021.
We'll update your account overview to reflect this change.
Please note: you may owe us £98 at the end of your plan. That's because you've chosen to pay a little less than we'd recommend.

But I haven't, I chose to pay precisely what they recommended! Aaargh, I'm losing the will to live, how can they have such a useless website???

Well, it's a total disaster zone here....

BG only seem to have managed to acquire (at the minute anyway) an estimated gas reading.
This is *lower* than my opening reading for PFP in March (by ~100 imperial units). No sign of the final reads for PFP doing anything.....

I've (perhaps stupidly) submitted a current reading.

Absolutely no sign of the electric, no sign of bills, no sign of them having any clue of what's going on.
To add insult to injury, PFP have ~£100 worth of credit after the final bill is generated.

I predict a long, painful road ahead.

Two bills have appeared in my PFP account so at least I know now which figures they used for the amount it said I owed them when I log in. It's only up to the august bill, they haven't done the final month yet. The bills ask me to pay by yesterday and the website says I'm overdue. They haven't emailed me so I don't want to pay as I think it would go to PFP credit rather than the administrator.

Well, I'm 'pleased' that someone else is experiencing the same problem and it's not just me. I have had contract details emailed from them but I still can't get access to my account. Same problem with the app. They have set me up as 'Pay by cash/cheque/card' and I can't get in to set up direct debit. Mind, if this is the level of service I'll be off pdq.

Thanks for the tip. I have two bills for electricity. Except real usage for first 7 days, then I have 1.3kWh use for July and August, when I had faulty smart electricity meter.

Also got gas bill up to 16th of September, which says estimated value at the end, even though I had smart meter and it's actual meter read from 11/09. Still didn't get recalculated gas bill from March till July, due to fauly gas meter.
  • My 2ps worth...

Only had welcome email from British Gas, but have setup my account. It has a meter reading from 1st Oct, which tallies with what PFP have.  No bills or anything yet.
  • I now have my first BG bill for the period 30th Sep. to 1st Nov. and the amount due exactly matches my own figures. The credit on my old PFP account will more than cover this amount but, as yet, there is no mention of this credit on my BG account.

Just wondering about the likelihood of BG/administrators remedying this, unprompted, before payment becomes overdue by 15th Nov.

Unsurprisingly perhaps, I have not rushed to set up a BG DD (having cancelled PFP one) but the tariff rates on my bill are the quoted DD ones.

My on line 'chat' attempts with BG have so far been unsuccessful. Just curious to know how others are faring, without swamping BG with unnecessary queries.

     :)

Just got an email from PfP asking for yet another meter reading. I  found that my final bill to the 28th September has been done and they will take the payment for that on the 20th November.
