  • I switched to Sainsbury’s Energy on the 13/09/20201 and this morning I got en email from them saying my switch has been approved.

Cancelled my PFP direct debit as soon as I heard they were ceasing trading and have not had any charges. My account is £263 credit.

I got caught by Yorkshire Energy going bust a year ago and switched to PFP the day they ceased trading. I gave it few weeks and then contacted the YE administrators to say it’s winter and I need my credit back to pay my bills. They sorted it out there and then and at the start of January I got a cheque from Scottish Power for all my credit.

I will be doing the same this time the middle of October I will chase for my credit.

I've had a BG email saying I've requested to change my password. I've checked on my DNO site and I'm still listed as being with PfP. I can't change a password on an account I don't have. Unless the email is a scam.

I shall leave well alone for the time being.
Its legit from BG. I received the same email last week and I've followed the link on their email to reset the password. It then lets me into the BG account which confirms that BG are starting to supply energy to me at the end of September. DNO still shows that I'm with PFP.

Yes, when I re-read it I realised it was to activate/access the account. It was just a bit of a strange way to word it.

Similarly, you are listed as a cash customer but the prices shown are the DD rate. I suspect it is a trap to make you pay more if you don't get a DD set up before the takeover.

Agreed - had there been no prior news about BG taking over PFP accounts, then it certainly would flag as a suspicious email.

I think that for PFP accounts that are being transferred, BG are categorising these as cash/cheque rather than DD and I suspect this is to make it easier to set up accounts, and then put the responsibility on the customer to contact BG to set up a DD once the transfer is completed. I've started the process to switch to Sainsburys and I'll contact BG to make a payment over the phone when the switch to Sainsburys completes.

  • PFP Energy have just taken their DD of £68.

since they are bust I had assumed there would be no more DD's from them.

I wish o had cancelled now.

there seems to be some clued up people who have decided to switch away and contact the administrators for their refunds.

I think I'll be doing the same
  • The administrators are not responsible for refunding credits ,only for chasing debtors. Any credit balances are the responsibility of the SOLR - IF you are successful in switching away from the failed suppliers to a third party then refund of your credit balance  will be very low on the list of priorities for the SOLR who will be fully occupied setting up new customer accounts.
  • I've moved from PFP to Neon Reef whilst under the SoLR cloud.

British Gas are setting things up, what is the best way to get them to cease the transfer of my electricity supply?

I don't have an account (yet) and they will commence supply on the 30th Sept
I'm on a 30+ minute hold on the CS number, but want to check if there is a specific number or route to take?

BG are asking for a meter reading. I'm on a smart meter so can I ignore this, or does it need doing anyway? Going to jump ship to Sainsbury's asap even though BG haven't fully swapped me yet as I don't want the cheap deals to disappear while I'm waiting.

You will need to send a manual reading, because the smart meter almost certainly won't have been transferred to BG's system.

Thanks. It was transferred when i switched from Scottish to PFP but i'll do a manual reading just in case, although now i need to work out how to take a reading on a smart meter!
