Well done thrifty.
Yesterday I finally got to go to town (haven't quite sorted my figures out, which is why I haven't been on here). My ankle is still strapped up and still throbbing so it was supposed to be a mini shop. Taxi to Wilko (diy stuff for me and mum), then cross to Tessimo to buy more of the things which weren't in stock when my delivery arrived, using my 10 pound gift card (forgot to do that, she asked me about a T card and although there's one linked to my account, I didn't have a physical card).
Walked into the front room and mum asked if I was going shopping. She wanted a 21st card which said grand-daughter and the birthday is next week and the card 'has to' go. So spent 30-50 at W's (of which mum owes me 7.00, she should probably pay for the hasp and padlock for the shed 12.00 and may owe me for the other sealant 6.50 when she finds she can't use the one she asked me to get). Went in b00ts for a meal deal (was on the altered route ie opposite direction to my chosen one and my ibuprofen stock is getting low so bought some at W's, B's and T's).
Did as much bench hopping as possible (W's have an inside one) but as I got nearer the traffic lights they were all occupied. No spaces in the bus station (looked in the two rows of stands nearest and bits of the further ones) or inside the mall (please forgive me for the meal deal as by this time I was on the point of going in a cafe for breakfast and a drink, just so I could sit down. Settled for leaning against Peppa pig's car and didn't even jump when it asked me my name.
Card shop was empty. Found 21st and grand-daughter cards but not both. Asked a woman who was another customer, then went to the counter. Young lad found one and was looking for another but I said it would do (fulfilled the criteria and never know if mum will/ won't like cards). Another 1.79 that mum owes me. Spotted a vacant bench further up (someone did come and sit on the other half but we were facing in opposite directions and I was too tired to argue).
Was extravagant and had my eyebrows shaped (5.00 but I gave her an extra 1.50 from the change). Last time I had it done was before DS1's wedding in 2018 and it's not something I can do myself any longer.
Went to the next vacant bench then outside and across to the crossing. Lights were changing but I just waited and pressed the button again then held on to the post. Stalked a man with a little trolley who kindly let me have it (none in the trolley run). Pulled out my list and stuck to it except for checking a couple of items on the 'wanted' list (another place to cross off because they didn't have them), avoided the beckoning of the stationery aisle and only picked 2 items from the reduced pile.
Taxi took ages (leaned against a plane called Jay Jay), 4 of us waiting. Ate when I got in (from my purchases) and went to bed at 6.30pm. Mum liked the card.
Mum seems okay with my 'first stage of moving home' plan (although she's misheard it). Have suggested I continue to sleep here. I will be here when she goes to bed and when she wakes up and if she needs me during the night - all the times she has been most ill have been at night. My plan was to start going home for most of the day, at first once and later twice during the week (like an actual day off). She's understood that I will go home during the day (most days?) but will stay if she's not feeling well, has an appointment, do anything else she needs plus gardening and diy. Which suits me.
It's chucking it down today so may spend time in the shed, sorting out all my screws, drill bits and larger tools. Twin two came earlier with small boy and daft dog (who has finally quietened down a little bit) and set up new telly. I have DS's large tv and the roku box in my room now (analogue tv so no regular channels) and mum has decided the small tv (working but no controller) can be added to the tip pile (I'm hoping to sneak a couple more things in).
Gratitudes having my eyebrows done, enjoying my library books, more cosiness in my sanctuary (I will put those fairy lights up). Mum's version of the moving home plan means I can act on a few other ideas (will pack most of my kitchen stuff away in boxes). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage4 -
Gratitudes - yoga (my lower back feels much better now!) ; stress-free switch to new GP (so far - test will be when I need a new prescription) ; finally getting to the end of our list of pending tasks at work (two colleagues have been off with COVID so we're short staffed, but I had a quiet couple of days and ploughed through them)5

NSD No 3 yesterday.
The Boy had his second jab yesterday and has just sent a message to say it's hit him like a ton of bricks. He feels awful and is spending the day in bed trying to get some sleep as he didn't get any during the night. He was absolutely fine with the first one. Strange how it affects different people in different ways. I hope he feels better later.
Finished the third book in the series and I've now started another one by the same author.
Dinner in the slow cooker using up bits and bobs and meal planned for tomorrow being defrosted.
Weather is looking a bit dodgy so I think I'll get on with a bit of decluttering.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
Well done Thrifty a reasonable score and turtles got mention on the radio, fame at last.I would have been a disgrace. Knew some but too slow my brain works at a more relaxed pace these days. I would be too cowardly to take part.Yesterday got a food shop done £30 with a £10 voucher from last months spend so pleased with that. Thanks lidlee.Did the date, lovely lad honest hard working but tad dull. He just works all the time and has no interests. another lonely soul. He wants to meet up again but can't see it going anywhere. Nice chat and coffee got me out for a change.Spent today so bored with cooking trying Gu sty next week. May have to eat some meals for lunch unless dd2 is about, too much for me. Cheap enough probably pay nearly that for 1 takeway, not sure if food is freezeable once cooked?Got a whole Friday evening to myself, kids not coming until tomorrow afternoon. Not feeling great atm so quiet night will be brilliant. May re visit Drs next week if not feeling better. Dd2 booked lunch out tomorrow so be fun to catch up with her.Have a lovely weekends turtles.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/225

Well done, Thrifty. I managed to miss it cos dc rang me during the first person and I was in the car, about to back into a tricky driveway and was across the whole road, so had to pull back out onto the road and pull up. Then I was blocking the road only a bit(!), so by the time the call finished and I was safely out of the way, you'd finished! Hope you enjoyed it!Mothernerd, I hereby declare that your meal deals are henceforth classes as a medical necessity 😎Today I am grateful for the sunshine and the wind, for all the young people on dc's week away testing negative after a visitor tested positive, for working out how to knit a fox sock, for going Home tonight (away is good, but I'm ready for my own bed...!), for being in a position to be able to go away.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Thank you all for your support & good luck vibes! Hubby listened to it on the Popmaster podcast when he got home, so didn't miss it ☺️ only scored 6 points on the first round, so glad I went last!
Had to collect some plants I'd reserved this afternoon, & did a small food shop. Didn't feel up to the big monthly one, will do it next week instead. Quite sore again today, so going to take things easy for the rest of the day. Cancelled my place at an anniversary meal tomorrow, was looking forward to it, but wouldn't have been able to eat what I'd ordered & no fun if in pain.
Grateful for a chat with a friend whilst she cut all 3 boys hair, all the nice messages I received after being on Popmaster, finally being on after 20 years of saying I would one day!Use it up, wear it out
