You must get TT to agree to let you leave penalty free  first .

Signing up with another ISP first means you break the TT contract and will be liable .
The gaining provider handles all and will just cancel TT and that breaks your contract .
Thanks for that.  Didn't think of that.  Currently on phone to Talk Talk who tried to offer me the same as what I have now, but with charging more than the £2.50 a month increase!

Just to add to JJ-Egan`s advice.
If you can do it via webchat, then let them know that way so you have a record of what was agreed.
Have you been talking to "retentions" because they are the only ones that can offer a better deal.
If you are determined to switch to Vodafone then tell TT first and the reason being they broke their own contract by increasing prices.

TalkTalk are wise to this, and seem to play chicken with, people threatening to leave.

I was initially offered the same as you, so pulled the trigger and signed up to another provider.

The minute TalkTalk are notified, you'll receive email which will more than likely outline early termination charges (again I think this is a tactic to make you call in again)

I called and the second time, I was offered a similar deal to others on here (effectively around £15 per month for 18 months for a 78mb download service with free anytime calls)

This was to beat (as opposed to match) Vodafone's offer, which would have meant the risk of waiting on Topcashback payout.

Start the switch, then call in again. Be crystal clear on the best offer you have, spelling out the effective monthly cost. Tell them they are unlikely to be able to match it, it spurs them into action.

Just called TT, who were about to increase £24/mnth to £26.50 for Fibre 35. Quick call and they offered £23 fixed for 24 mnths, or £21 variable for 24 mnths with an increase on 1st April 2022 being the next increase date @inflation + 3.7%, and the opportunity at that time to leave without a fee, or renegotiate. I've taken the variable @ £21.

Maybe not as stellar a deal as some on here, but fair for both parties I feel.

Have they added a £30 admin fee for a contract change like they tried with me?

If they increase in line with their T&Cs you may well find that the "leave free" offer becomes "What leave free offer? You're under contract and must pay ETCs". ;)

I specifically asked " if I take the variable rate, and if an increase comes which is inflation +3.7% as stated, will I have the chance to leave with no fees?", The assistant replied "yes, it will just be as has happened this time, if any increase is due, you will be given the chance to leave without a fee, or review and renew on a new contract if you wish to.

Also forgot to add, we have a TalkTalk mobile also, and don't pay anything additional on top of this for the mobile. It has enough minutes and data so that we've never had a charge above the bill, 4GB and 500 mins, so happy enough with that also.

And as I said before ... just because an agent said that, unless you receive that in writing then an increase in accordance with the stated T&Cs means that your chances of actually getting a free exit are between nil and nada. ;)
