( tt is in the wrong otherwise why would they let you cancell without penaltY 0OFCOM rules for in contract price increase is why .( most actually negotiate a better deal .)Your OTHER provider will either have the same setup or be on the newer built in price increase every year contracts .That gives no get out and no negotiating a better deal .1

I'm in same boat, I'm going to call and ask to leave penalty free, my speeds have been sketchy and now I have a mesh set up in the house I'm not bothered about the router itself so may jump to NOW cos their equiv is £5 cheaper a month and I can get £100 TCB again. My question is, I got £100 TopCashBack, they going to ask for it back cos I gone and spent it.

Have I just heard the OP on on the Ask Martin Lewis podcast?
Also, I had the same thing back in March. When you arrange to switch providers TalkTalk will send you an email to say there are early termination charges but will follow this up just before you switch with an email saying they are waiving the early termination charges. The cynic in me would suggest it’s a nice little trick into scaring you to stay with them.0 -
I seem to be having a bit of a problem when trying to arrange a penalty free leaving option.
The problem is with the phone line and TalkTalk are giving me two options:1. When you wish to retain your landline number. Here you are required to advise your new provider and they contact us on your behalf giving us a date to disconnect the services.2. When you do not wish to retain your landline number. Here you are required to place a disconnection notice with us. Our system requires a 30 days to disconnect the services and close your account. If you decide to cancel whilst you are still in contract you will be liable for a termination fee.
However, my new provider is stating that the process is automatic and they do not get in touch with TalkTalk.
If I choose option 2 it appears I may forfeit my right to leave penalty free because I am cancelling the phone service.
Any advice please?0 -
Price increase penalty free get out .Yes you must go through the TT email instructions , telling TT you want to leave penalty free .A straightforward cancel or ISP swap will incur termination charges .0

I picked this information up on another forum regarding opting out penalty free.
A straightforward cancel or ISP swap will incur termination charges.

After I had the email I did an online chat with TT, after about an hour of discussion and rejecting several offers I have ended up with a £2.50 reduction on current price. Despite this I was tempted to leave anyway but then why cut off your nose to spite your face. Just a shame to have to through this palaver.1

Wont have a palaver next year with built in increase and no chance of negotiating .

I managed to get a new deal with a promise of no prices increases for the length of the new contract. Just hope Talktalk stick to their promise..0
