NTL/Telewest at it again! Make the call and save some cash...

Hi I must have spoken to wrong Dept. as when I asked about cancelling my Broadband service they only said give us 30 days notice and you will be disconnected ! No attempt made by them to keep me as a customer. wiil they contact me within the 30 days anyone had this experience ? I only want to reduce Ntl bill (have phone+TV packages also) as have just lost my job. Anyone advise a cheaper way of getting Broadband ?

Just tell them there are better deals and see if they can better them or match them, thats what I did.

I told them Tiscali were offering 2MB BB for £17.99 a month and they said I can have 2MB for £20 for 6 months or 1MB for £9.99 for 12 months, I elected for the 1MB.

I rang a few weeks back to enquire about why new NTL customers can get sky sports free and asked if existing customers could have the same deal. I was offered (and accepted) my existing 1mg broadband thats normally £17.99 a month, for £9.99 montly for 12 months. Saving £96 a year ! Accepted !

I still wasn't happy, so I tried my luck again. I rang earlier today to cancel and was asked why I want to leave. I stated that Sky digital are offering new customers sky sports for free. The rather helpful advisor stated that they could offer me sky sports collection for twelve monthd FREE if I subscribed to a 'Talk' package for 12 months. I choose the cheapest, local option at £2 a month, that's only £24 a year.

I now have sky sports for £24 for the whole year ! I think its normally about £16.50 a month or £198 a year (?), saving me a further £174 a year !

Definately worth the phone call !!!!

Most of the people I've read about so far got discounts on their 1 meg account - how did you manage it on your 3 meg?

i am currently with ntl and have phone,tv and bb for £30.I also pay £14.50 for talk unlimited. 1899 seems best option but can,t find cheaper option for 0870 & 0845 numbers,also directory inq....So shall I just plum for a V2 dialler or V4 dialler in case i,ve missed something ,which is probably the case!..ps. fab website , only wish my girlfriend shared my enthusiasm

The 0808 and 0207 cable/mobile access numbers on 18185 do not work at the moment for some reason!!!!

Called the retentions and said I was thinking about moving to sky because the family package was £10 cheaper than ntls. They said they would match that, and also offered Sky Sports (1,2 & 3) free for a year! No hassle, no questions, just did it all for me!

Got me thinking, so I thought I’d phone up to see if I could get broadband reduced too.

I was on the £17.99 1mb package, which is billed separately to my TV & telephone. I phoned 08000 522 000 and chose the changing packages option. I said I was thinking about leaving and quoted tiscalli offering £15.99 for 2mb, bulldog doing 8mb for £17.50 and even ntl were offering new customers the £9.99 for 12 months - and asked if they could offer me anything... and straight away the lady said she'd be able to match the £9.99 for 12 months offer Couldn't wait to put down the phone to start laughing! It was so easy!

Around £200 saving for the year & free skysports! Thanks a lot!
