Did exactly the same......called the customer relations dept.
Barely mentioned that I was thinking of leaving and the lovely lady from NTL went through my account and did the following:
Phone....Talk unlimited £18.00 ......now £8.50 for 12 months
Broadband.....1 meg £17.99..........now £9.99 for 12 months
Television......£43.....Now £30.......Sky Sports free for 12 months
Total saving..........Loads!!!!!!!(£300 plus)
Do it you know it makes sense0 -
sibbers,
ditch the talk unlimited for £8.50/month. If you signed up with 1899, you'd have to make almost 10 calls a day, every day, to reach an £8.50 expenditure.
Pay for what you use, not what you might use......and then the window licker said to me...0 -
Hi
Just over 3 months ago, I made 'the call' to NTL and they gave me the 3 for £30 package and free unlimited 24 calls for 3 months. This ended last week, so I made 'the call' again. I asked the girl how to go about cancelling my phone, broadband and tv, and she told me to give them 30 days notice, which I could do there and then on the phone if I wanted!
i might try again, see who else answers the phone, lol!
But I may need to have a BT line for other reasons, so might look into that instead.*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
If I don't reply to you, I haven't looked back at the thread.....PM me0 -

I'm paying £21.50 per month for 3-2-1 phoneline and the base pack tv is that right? because I thought that the tv was supposed to be free in with the phoneline rental? I've been a customer for years but not sure if it went up when they started to do the rental bills sep to the calls bill, I'm sure it should be £10.50 for both the phone and basepack, should it?
Then I get a bill separate for the actual calls and this month thats almost £29 again so I'm just getting fed up of paying too much for the phone every month. Its not always that much for calls sometimes its between £10 and £15 but still added to the rental its too much
I already got the broadband 1mb down to £9.99 for 12 months but I want to sort the phone now. Is the 1899 thing easy to use I have often thought about that but thought it might be too much messing around and then I don't bother, do you need to pre dial?Thanx

With regard to your call costs, NTL charge 5p connection AND 3p/minute weekdays, 2p/minute evenings and 1p/minute weekends for calls to UK 01/02 numbers (although calls to other LOCAL NTL customers are free evenings and weekends).
If you were to use call1899.co.uk, you'd be able to make 333 unlimited duration calls at any time for 3p connection and 0p/minute for the £10 (or 500 for the £15) you're curently paying NTL.
Time to sign up?Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Does that include 0870 numbers and 0845 with 1899 don't you pay rental with 1899 aswell and are they the cheapest predial company?
And if I rang a mobile would that be 3p per minute too?Thanx
