no one is at the start hun but if its just for making calls....then a mobile is exactly the same as a home telephone with a cord or cordless. someone rings, you press the green button and talk! if you want to ring then dial the number press the green button and talk! it really is as simple as that! :)

    Talk unlimited= £14.50

Unlimited call packages are rarely worth what you are paying. Trouble is as Telewest are a rip-off to start with on their phone package (have been so for about 5 years) if you stick with Telewest then an unlimited call package may look a good idea, even BT offer their 24/7 package cheaper than TW.

Sky only charge £5/month for 24/7 calls on top if an £11/month BT line rental (so worth telling TW this, as they should drop the cost), BT also offers Caller Display for free. For the Sky Talk you do need to be a Sky Digital customer.

With a BT line you could use Primus 2 and get for no additional fee over the £11 BT line rental free evening and weekend calls. Daytime calls could go via 1899 at 3p per call. If you take the £14.50 you pay TW for the package of calls, as with Primus you get evening and weekends free you would have to make over 483 daytime calls per month before the TW package would be value for money, with 1899 if you make no calls you pay no money, if you only make 100 calls during the day that month then you just pay £3 to 1899 and your £11 line rental to BT.

Depending on whether the local BT exchange has Sky equipment in it, you can get free broadband from them, though the free broadband is only for light users, £10 will get you a slightly better service.

  • Hi all, phoned NTL today as saw offer in Sunday papers offering free TV with telephone line (£11 per month) I started on this offer many moons ago before they took it away and started charging £20.50 (phone and base cable pack). After phoning customer services I was put through to disconnections and ended up with the following. Put on the £11 package saving £9.50 per month, £30 credit for previous problems that were never credited to account (have lost telephone service for the last three xmas's and was never given refunds for the lost days!) half price 4mb broadband for the next 3 months saving £37.50 (my girlfriends company pay for the broadband anyway). I was not told that this committed me to a further twelve months so I will be speaking to them again in the near future about leaving them again! Well worth the phone call I think saving nearly £160 for this year.

I found the easiest way to save money was not to have any services. _party_

Found this on the ntl site

    http://www.home.ntl.com/page/phonepricechange

It does not look too good to me, I really do not like them trying to force customers into taking thier what they call great value plans

So much for the lowering prices where has that info come from?
    Thanx

All I'm paying for is 4Mbit broadband (£19.99), the TV comes free and the phone I use VoIP (so £1.80/ month there).

My comment was really meant to be tongue in cheek. :D As you know for certain if you have no services, you are spending no money!

I managed to ring to get the broadband upgraded to 4mg for an extra 2.50 per month. So now paying 33.25 for 4 meg, all channels and phone...

Also, whilst speaking to him he said it doesnt matter if you are in contract or not - can ring during your 12 months and still get these deals! Said that the prices are going down in January and that through the 0800 number you will get ANY offer available to new customers and in fact better :)

    HTH someome...

What is all channels Babbler...premium also or just a average package..??

There are rumours that ntl are going to drop thier talk24 to £9.95 and talk unlimited to £2.95 but all calls are going to be 3p a minute 24 hours including weekends and cable to cable customers if you arent on a plan. Thats going to make quite a different from being free after 6pm and free all weekend.

Thats too much at £9.75 and £2.95 they are pushing us towards having these talk plans by increasing the calls per minute 24 hrs.

I wouldnt use £9.75 in calls so it wouldnt be logical for me to pay that price. I was on free talk24 for 3 months when that ended they put me on it again for £2.50 for the next either month or 3 months cant remember, I'd stick with that but £9.75 is too much when I have broadband 2 phonelines and the tv.

I have SKY downstairs aswell so if it gets too bad with NTL I could get a link to upstairs for replcing ntl tv, have free broadband with them and BT phone at least with them you get better deals on pre dial servers at zero pence per minute to uk phones and they dont charge after 60 mins
    Thanx
