I got ntl to agree to 1 meg BB for £9.99 for a further 6 months which was a continuation of the year at that rate when I first took it up. The last two months it billed me the full £17.99 so had to ring up to get a credit the following month, but because they couldn't set it up to bill correctly they reduced it by a further £1 to £8.99 as that deal ' usually works ? '.
Tried cancelling the phone call itemised billing too which is only £1 but as soon as they do this the following morning it sets itself up again and they don't know why.
They have also given me the Talk unlimited currently costing £14 ( but about to be reduced to £10 ) for free and that billing actually works and this also for 6 months. Don't like the way the bill says 3 months free but they assure me two are set up so I hope so.0 -
Hi all, a little bit of advice is needed. I'm with Ntl and the offer I was on has know finaly run out. I've now got:-
Digital base pack and telephone.................£22.50
Talk unlimited.........................................£2.00
Unlimited broadband 1MB..........................£17.99
Broadband plus.......................................£4.99 (which I'm going to cancel)
Dual Sky sports collection.........................£15.50
Family pack............................................£8.00
After reading alot of the messages I gather that I should phone the retention phone number (08000529403) and threaten to leave.
Any advice in what to say and to ask for and what to threaten them with?
Thanks in advance0 -
Hi, I went to TELEWEST homepage & clicked the 'contact us' e-mail
Sent them a nice e-mail explaining how I had been a customer for 6 years but was thinking about going elsewhere as better offers
I am on the basic broadband, Essential TV package & Telephone, costing £40.49 per month
The next day I received a telephone message advising that I could keep the same package but that my next bill would be reduced to £34 per month for the next 12 months
All Helps!0 -

You should get better than that. Phone and say your budget is £30 and freeview is better! I got 2meg bb, phone line and family pack for £30!Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
Just like to add my own experiences to the board. Having been offered the deal nearly 6 months ago, I have had billing problems from the 3rd month onward.
First all deals came off, rang to sort that out, asked the question will I have to call again in 3 months. NO was the answer. Then I got disconnected from broadband because the guy had entered the retention offer wrongly. Another two calls and a further 2 disconnections and the problem was sorted out. Though for 2 months I couldn't understand the bills.
Now I open my bill, my service is back down to 1Meg (upgraded to 2Meg this month) where as the deal was on for 4Meg. Couldn't be bothered to sort that out....but the TU24 is showing as ending part way through the coming month. Rang today (12 minute wait on a 0845 number coz I'd originally called billing) got very annoying chap who just kept telling me that they only do TU24 deals for 3 months and braodband deals for 6 months and that actually I was getting a very good deal! I explained that I had been specifically told last time that everything would be ok for a year. HE said that the person must have been new and he was recinding that statement......aagh! Very unsatisfactory.
Now I'm left thinking that I'll just try for the broadband deal, forget the TU24 and switch back to 1899 ....it was a lot less hassle.
Very, very unhappy:mad:CHAPS requested 10 Oct, left KE 15 Oct, finally arrived 18.00, 4th Nov0 -

If the bill says TU24 for 3 months I would lay money on the fact that it will come off in 3 months and that you will need to call ...otherwise you've done better than me!CHAPS requested 10 Oct, left KE 15 Oct, finally arrived 18.00, 4th Nov0 -
:jDigital base pack and telephone.................£22.50
Talk unlimited......................................... £2.00
Unlimited broadband 1MB..........................£17.99
Broadband plus.......................................£4.99 (which I'm going to cancel)
Dual Sky sports collection.........................£15.50
Family pack............................................£8 .00
I finaly plucked enough courage to ring them earlier. I was polite and told her I was thinking of leaving and what can ntl do for me. This is what they've given me.
Digital base pack+family pack+telephone (talk 24)......................£17
2MB...................................................................................£9.99
Total £26.99+ free sky sports:rotfl:
talk 24 is for 3 months and sky sports is initally for 3 months but they will honour it for a further 3 months when I ring back.
The number she gave me to ring back is 0800 052 9403
All other packages is for 6 months.
I also asked about a wireless router and she said no problem go out and by one and they will credit my account.
I was paying nearly £80 which has dropped down to £26.99 saving £53ish:cool:
After making small talk with the lady she told me that the best time to ring in on a friday afternoon because they all tired and will give you what you want.0 -
£53ish x 12 = £636ish saving per year!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done.0

EmmaLou wrote:I called NTL up in April as was fed up with the charges etc. They offered me 2mb broadband and base TV and Telephone for £21.50 per month for 6 months.
I am also annoyed at how they do the billing. I got told that it would be free BB for 3 months (usually £24.99) and they would raise another credit for the rest of the amount. Well the way they do this is so confusing. The bills don't show the BB as being half price, and they seem to credit it one month and then not the other. I think I am actually paying them about £25 per month (it was bloody difficult to work out!).
I just wish they could say "this is the amount...you will pay this for a year", not the stupid system they have now where you have to keep calling up because they haven't credited what they say they will.
AAAAAAAARrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
phone them up and ask for the free tv package, this will save you £11.50 per month, it only has 40 channels, but it is the same as you would get with a freeview boxsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
