Cool! Have you been with them a year or is this in the 30 day period?

I just got my forst bill - boy is it difficult to understand!!! Im not sure if I got the 10CR for internet or not! Also, its so badly layed out! Not impressed on first impression...

been with them 1 yr , i moved house and was told that by moving im on new contract , asked for same as before but bill came in today with no discounts called c/service and think person was hearing but not listening so called retention
  • I finally went over to digital TV with NTL recently. Needless to say, contrary to what the sales person told me, the select package I was given didn't have most of the channels that I was watching on analogue and it cost me more each month. Guess what? I was promised that my monthly payment would stay the same. After three calls to customer services outlining my grievance (and just in case the sales person is reading this- I was given your name and No, you still haven't contacted me to apologise...) a very nice person changed my digital package. Now getting the family pack for under £10/month. Still have free telephone line rental and soon to be 2MB BB for £9.99/month. All's well that ends well? We'll see when a few more bills come in...
...and then the window licker said to me...

inspired by many similar posts on this site, I just rang NTL about the family pack tv cost.
I was paying £19.50 per month, but they have a deal for £9.75 per month for 6 months.
I asked for it and got it with no hassle at all !

    cheers moneysavers !
Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)

as we dont watch most of the !!!!!! on cable anyway, hoping to make the call tomorrow and get the £22.50 per month dropped completly

they have never told me about the free pack.....

I made the call and managed to get TU24 and 4MB unlimited broadband for £23.49. Thought this was a good deal, and it is, BUT....

The deal only lasts for 3 months. I have to phone back to have it reapplied. Then I had mega problems with the billing. First, they gave me the free freeTU24 but did not apply the half price broadband at the same time. When I called they applied the half price broadband from the date I phoned. The after 2 months bills which were completely wrong, I called disconnections to say that I am happy with the product and the price, but the billing is atrocious and I want to leave. Was told by Leroy that he would give me the above deal for 3 months and all I needed to do was phone back in 3 months time to reapply the deal. He even gave me his extension number. I said that I would give them one last chance but if there are any problems with the billing I would call back to cancel. He gave me his personal assurance.

Guess what, just received the August bill and have been overcharged by £22, so I am 'making the call' again, but this time to cancel.

Moral of the story is you may get a good short term deal, but you need to be prepared to check and challenge the bills.

And another thing, you have to pay THEM 5p per minute to tell THEM they have cocked it up. What a scam!

    Sounds familiar.

I rang last year because I actually wanted to quit and was offered a good deal (TU24, 1mb BB and Family Pack for £28/month). I was assured that this would be for life but that I'd have to call back in 12 months to get the discounts put on again because the system wouldn't allow it to be applied for any longer than that.

Guess what? I rang back earlier this year and got "we don't give lifetime discounts... the best I can offer you is XYZ", ie more than £28/month. I was given names and extension numbers last year too - fat lot of good that was.

I can't keep ringing retentions because I'm not allowed to use the phone at work and I have to pay for 0800 calls from my mobile. So I rang the normal number the other weekend and said I wanted the £9.99 BB deal that new customers are getting and that I wanted to downgrade my TV and phone packages because there was no way I was going to pay any more - it was the principle of the thing.

I'm now paying £28/month still, but with reduced channels and unlimited chat at weekends only, which suits me as long as I don't need to call anyone during the week.

I'm f**ked off with NTL (no change there then) but as long as I'm paying less than £30/month for these services (can't really pare them down much more) I'll stay with them.

I got my first bill since downgrading today and they seem to have messed that up - but in a good way. Charges add up to £40 and they've given me £22-worth of discounts so this month's costing me £17-odd. Serves them right.

My previous "discount deal" has just ended (after 12 months). I contacted retentions dept and they basically offered the same deal again for a further 12 months plus (after a bit of haggling) TU24 for free!!

So I think I now get 1MB broadband for £9.99 (instead of £17.99), family pack + sky sports for £33.00 (instead of £48) and TU24 (saving £13.99). Overall a saving of £37pm or £444pa.
