You paid £5.50 for inclusive evening and weekend calls, they are not free because you have paid £5.50 for them.cheddar wrote:Just managed to get

Not a bad deal at all! It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Yes but you know exactly what I meant by that. I pay £5.50 and any geographic call I make and eve and wkend isn't charged extra. Seeing as I do most of my ringing round then (about £10-£20 a month) it was defo saving me money!
Hurrah for this thread, I might have got this deal even cheaper but it was my OH on the phone and he's not as pushy as me! LOL! :money:0 -

Yes, that I did, I was just in one of my funny moods.
It's always worth phoning up and seeing what savings you can grab, and it seems you managed to get a very good deal. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... If you weren't on cable, you could get those E&W UK 01/02 calls for no monthly subscription via Primus Saver Option 2 CPS.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I made my call to NTL some 6 months ago and saved myself £150 per annum. For the past 6 months, I have been nagging my neighbour to "Make that call" to NTL and she did today! Saved £36 per month for 12 months plus a £20 credit to her bill. I think I'm due a beer from her.0

I phoned up disconnections (retensions) & quoted the Sky 6months free Movies or Sky Sports Package, and ended up with Sky Sports free for a year with the price reduced to £35 per month.
I had already cut the package from £47.99 to £38.74 per month a couple of months back.( I have Family Pack,1meg broadband, + phone with them).
So know I have added Sky Sports for a year & a reduction in price (should be £70 per month) all for a 10min phone call.
MAKE THAT CALL TODAY:beer:0 -
Just been onto retentions now, had 1Mb broadband @ £17.99 pm, and I quoted the Talk Talk £19.99 deal for telephone and free broadband. Straight away without any quibble the NTL guy said he'd give me:
2Mb broadband
phone line with free weekend calls (ex directory)
all for £17pm for 12 months
Am very happy as this will save on my mobile bill (dont have a land line atm), plus the engineer is coming next thursday to install my phone line
Am soo happy right now, thank you all for this thread!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 126 :j

Got my father to make the call today and asked him to quote the 6 month free sky package plus free broadband!
This is what we got:
Sky Sport free for 6 months.
10 Mb broadband free for 6 months then £14.79/month.
Free all day calls to landlines for £14.99/month.
:j
They were quite keen to keep our custom and they should as last months bill, for the TV & Phone package, was over £300!
Hopefully this will help reduce it a little!
Thanks to everyone on this board for showing me the light! :cool:0 -
Just read through recent posts and would offer the following observations.
When my previous package ran out, I phoned NTL and got half price BB (now uprated to 4 meg), Talk 24 and half price line rental for a year = £17.75 - probably the most generous on this thread so far.
BUT be warned - they can apparently only input some of these for three months at a time, so it's a good idea to get the offer from them in writing. My latest bill showed that the half price BB had run out so I rang up "Retentions" quoted the reference on the letter and they have reinserted it (well, I'll know from the next bill if it's been done right!). Moral: Don't trust them.:D
I had to phone them on their Customer relations number and was kept waiting for 20 minutes listening to music - at 5p/minute! And then spoke to someone who was very unhelpful. Moral: Use any excuse to dial the retentions number instead. It's free and they seem to be much more helpful.
Been with them for about 4 years now. Customer service is variable. But look through other threads about other telecomms providers. Somewhere in almost every one there's someone saying how !!!!!! they are!
Good hunting!
