Oh, and do you HAVE to have a BT line to get Sky?

    Thanks, in advance!

    Lucy

You don't have to have a BT landline for Sky, you never have, it was akways just a working landline, we had Sky digital installed 1 Oct 1998 and had a Telewest landline.

If you don't go for multi room (more than one subscription box) you don't even need a telephone line, though you will have to pay a £25 one off manual activation charge.

We dumped Telewest for phone line over 5 years ago when they became dearer than even BT. (Dumped BT and just use VoIP over 12 months ago now).

If you must have a landline, then a BT landline is the only sensible offer, with the options Heinz has listed via his sig.

I no longer subscribe to Sky, as for what we watched it just wasn't worth it, so we just have the 100+ free satellite channels, as well as for free from Telewest their starter TV package, and pay a reduced fee for their 4mbit broadband, we also have Freeview. So my TV, Phone (VoIP) and broadband comes in at around £21.80 per month (around £1.80 pay fro my VoIP - 300 mins of 'free' calls to UK and many other countries, plus that £1.80 credit can be used on chargeable calls, so isn't lost).
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • please can someone advise me. we currently have 2mb broadband and the starter tv package for £14.99. realise this is a good deal as those guys in the street who get you to switch always wince when i tell them what we pay.

Anyway, it runs ouot soon and i would like to continue basically what we are doing now, but the nearest thing i can think of is the 3 for 30 that they do. i was interested in the £11 line rental with free tv but that is only the basic and i will lose some channels if i go on to that. im not very good at bartering either.
    It's definitely not definately!

I had the offer from Telewest of the 4Mbit broadband and starter TV for £19.99, when it came nearly to the end I sent a message to them via their website saying, that whilst I was quite happy to pay £19.99 for the package, I wasn't happy at paying the £30.50 it would go up to, and would simply go elsewhere, so I got another 12 months at the same price, I probably should have tried harder, as I've heard people get the same package for £17.99.

I don't need the phoneline as I use VoIP, so that wasn't an option for me.

Oh good, I have 2 phonelines so hoping they will go down as they increased 2nd phoneline to £11 rental not so long ago. Its just for emergencys in case the other phones engaged. Broadband should go down anyway they must spend loads of time on the phone to custmers giving deals so they may aswell just put it down theres too much competition out there now.

why not buy a pay as you go mobile as a second line? therefore getting rid of the £11p/m charge and it costs you nothing to keep the mobile running (be careful some mobile phone operators like you to put some credit on your mobile every few months, but that is still cheaper than what you are currently paying.)

    Telephone line rental= £11.00
    Talk unlimited= £14.50
    Essential TV= £11.50
    Broadband= £17.99
    1 Additional set top box= £15.00

I had recieved a phone call from customer services on friday of last week asking me if i was happy with services etc, with absolutely no prompting from myself whatsoever i was offered "Free" 3 month trial of 4 meg BB. This got me to thinking that i was probably a valuable customer so decided to do some digging around and low and behold found this thread, So my question is this i..... I want to get onto customer retentions and slice their legs off any suggestions what i should be demanding before requesting a termination of my services..?

Thanls in advance for all your responses

    Tk
