merikiito wrote:Hi all, phoned NTL today as saw offer in Sunday papers offering free TV with telephone line (£11 per month) I started on this offer many moons ago before they took it away and started charging £20.50 (phone and base cable pack). After phoning customer services I was put through to disconnections and ended up with the following. Put on the £11 package saving £9.50 per month, £30 credit for previous problems that were never credited to account (have lost telephone service for the last three xmas's and was never given refunds for the lost days!) half price 4mb broadband for the next 3 months saving £37.50 (my girlfriends company pay for the broadband anyway). I was not told that this committed me to a further twelve months so I will be speaking to them again in the near future about leaving them again! Well worth the phone call I think saving nearly £160 for this year.
Just a quick update, forgot had unlimited 24 phone calls @ £14 per month. Have now cancelled that so have even more of a saving as using 1899.com. Please note that 1899.com do not do free calls for NTL lines!0 -
Hiya just a qick update as per my earlier post further up the page , i phoned Teleworst today and negotiated my bill down from £69.99 a month to £ 39.99, saving of £30.00 a month or £360 a year looks better.... again offer is only for 3 months bla bla bla ...! I rang Telewest a couple of days and they offered me half price rental and calls. i.e Landline calls 6pm-6am and weekend £8.25 and 24x7 12.50. Both including line rental. No 12 months contract and can you change after 3 months however the person I spoke to indicated that call charges may be reduced in 3 months anyway.
First moneysaving post, go easy.
Regards,

Free Installation for Free TV, they waived the £25 installation fee, and the TV is free for life as long as she has a phone with telewest. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

I called NTL today to see what they would offer me once I mentioned wanting to cancel all services. I was quickly transfered to the customer relations and I explained my boyfriend thought our bill was too expensive and he wanted us to look else where for our internet, phone and television package.
I mentioned Orange broadband. The customer advisor looked at my package and said she could offer me my broadband and tv packages for half price, for 6 months. That is £35 knocked off my bill, every month, for the next 6 months(Well, £40 actually, as I cancelled Disney Cinemagic too). My bill will be £50 a month instead of £90
I done the same thing a year and a half ago, and got £10 off my broadband for a year. I thought that was good of NTL then!
Just shows you how desperate NTL are to keep their customers.
Remember, to phone NTL, for free from your NTL phone, just dial 1500 -
Well thanks to OP and the MSE forums.
Been with Ntl for years. Got my bill today and following the advice on here called and said I felt I was paying too much for my broadband (£25pm inc cable modem).
Immediately the girl said she would half my bill!
Erm for how long I asked?
Ongoing sir, will be £12.50 in future.
Right result! Thanks a lot folks I am well happy.
Very bizarre that it got offered so easily to me though, couldnt believe it!0 -
Cable has a very high churn rate at the moment, they are desperate to keep customers. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
