Ok we need to take the hit with going back to bt £125 to get reconnected and the £89 to sky but i looked into the 3 year picture and the saving going to sky is worth the swap over.
We decided to go for sky and took the plunge with bt who said subject to survey it should be free unless something cropped up when the engineer came out, so we set everything up and an engineer was to call out to reconnect THEN yesterday telewest called as they had the request from bt for the line and asked if she could price match would we stay, yes we had allready called to them to try and the best they could do was take £8 off when we threatened to leave but no the lady said she could reduce the cost a lot more ok to what i asked, £53 a month:j so the t.w engineer is coming out in the next fortnight to fit the tv drive box and wire up the multiroom:j and we will only be paying the same as what we have been paying but now we have so much more - sky movies, sport, tvdrive and multiroom, i have this deal for 12 months and then have been told to call and get it again if i wish. Very happy bunnies in this house, its just a pity that we had to go elsewhere to get that price then cancel bt also when looking at the account we had caller display at £1.75 which bt do for free but so do telewest now so if your paying i would call as we have been paying for it and it had been free:rolleyes:The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
yes, this is the annoying thing, you have to go to cancel to get any offers, i don't really want to threaten as im quite happy with telewest, apart from the cost
Not sure about caller display being free, i have mentioned twice to their advisors that with BT it is free, why cant i have it free as i do have all 3 services with you, i just get the standard, sorry, it is £1.75, blah blah blah
i am still waiting for a reply to my e-mail about high prices, especially the broadband, now i think i`ll email again to moan about the caller display !!!0 -

i have been a loyal custm er for over 6 years for the internet and on and off for the phone and tv
i presently was paying about £70 a month for 4 mb broadband, supreme tv and talk 400
i phoned today to say i couldnt afford the high prices any more and i wanted to downgrade, the bloke was quite happy about it, asked what i wanted to downgrade to etc, i told him i wanted the talk weekends, 2 mb broadband and essential tv
i was quite dismayed to be charged £17.99 for the broadband and told him it was too dear and its much cheaper else where, he said this is the price, nothing i can do about it.
i finished the phone call, but now im quite wound up, im still paying £42.24 for my services.
i know perhaps if i went to cancel i could get a deal out of them but i was scared they would cancel and id be stuck !!!
i have e-mailed them though saying i expected my broadband to be £14.99 and how expensive they are
but, i am on the lookout now for a different company, telewest will not look after its existing customers
Have a look at the sky site, we were on very similar package to you but the calls were 200 and paying £57 to t.w and a bit narked as they wouldnt offer us anything even the money off broadband and we took the plunge and priced up sky, they are doing free braodband which makes the whole package much cheaper - 6 mixes £21 with free broadband £221 for the year and a £40 one off set up fee, also they do a talk unlimited for £5 so for the year inc line rental (£11)£453 works out roughly £38 a month then year 2 £34.41, we worked it out over 3 years and thats what prompted us to do something. Sky package as we were would cost £1281 for 3 years inc line rental but with telewest it would be costing £1998 for the exact package. We decided to opt for the higher package with sky+ and multiroom and found we could get it for what we were paying telewest so chose that option and finally telewest price matched but it did have to take bt asking t.w. for our number before they would do anything. We had been with telewest for 10 years. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Crossed posts, we felt the exact same way too we didnt want to leave but annoyed about the costs, but when you look at the costings if telewest wernt going to cut the costs then we would have went elsewhere, the saving was £700 over the 3 years to swap that said it all to us.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

I was also happy- but not as happy as I was after the offer
You must sayyou want to cancel to get anything. Even if you are happy call the retentions line- I believe its an 0800 number somewhere in this thread so nothing lost!A lot to gain...
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
It's good that people are getting good deals with cable, however cable still has much fewer channels than satellite.
I stopped subscribing to satellite however 8+ months ago, just get the 200+ free channels. I get the starter TV package from cable free with my broadband, and use VoIP so I only pay £20 per month for TV, phone and broadband, I have used my free credit from easyMobile to top-up my VoIP account for 12 months free calling and have plenty of credit in there for any chargeable calls. As I use VoIP I get all the calling features free, as it's all part of VoIP (caller display, call divert option, anonymous caller rejection, 3-way calling, call transfer, call waiting [with call waiting ID] plus a few others). It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

I live in a mid-terrace town house and currently have an NTL phone line.
If I was to get BT installed, would I need a full install and therefore have to pay £100+
Or would there be another option? Can't find much information on the BT website.
Thanks
Depends if there is a BT line into your home and has been used by yourself or others in the past. If there is a line into you home and at one time has been used then it should be classed as a reconnection, and free. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Thanks for that. Doesn't look like there is a BT line into our house, although our neighbour has a BT line.
So I assume that means BT will charges me £100+ then to get a connection0 -
