    Hello Vanman7,

Can you please be more specific about your issues with online gaming and P2P, what's apps/games are you using? Also we do not stop P2P however it can be restricted if user go over the limit.

With regards to cancelling the free broadband, the free broadband comes with the calling tariff that you have signed up to and so to cancel the broadband you would need to change tariff or leave us however as per T&C`s you are in a contract for 18 months.

If at the end of your contract you want to go to BT just call them and ask for a reverse migration this should be completed free of charge by BT.

Hope this helps, if you provide me with the requested information I will investigate.

Can you provide any proof that reverse migration should be completed free of charge by BT, or is this yet another TalkTalk lie?

The broadband migration may be free, but I think he conveniently forgets to mention the £125 it costs to get the line transfered back to BT.

Well as TalkTalk broadband is free, TALKTALK_SUPPORT can only be referring to reverse migration of the calling tariff that has been signed up to, which we all know is not free!

Regarding online gaming i wanted to play Medal of honor airborne and Call of duty 4. i can get connected and play for all of 4-5 mins but then connection drops and can never get connected again that day.

with p2p its totaly different, i could use programes such as bitcommet, ares, limewire and utorrent, this was fine for the first few months downloading at around 190kbps but then i couldnt download so asked talktalk why. they said that in one month that i had gone over my 40gb download limit (thats at least 60 full length movies) i asked TT to give me strict proof of this in writting as i knew exactly how much i had downloaded for that month and it was nowhere near 40gb and they failed to do so, and said that as a result i would be capped and not allowed to download for one month....that was in APRIL LAST YEAR.

when i called them and asked why i was STILL not able to download they then said that they DO NOT SUPPORT P2P. Since then i have found out that i can only use p2p between the hours of 1-7am. no use to anyone.

And if you try to tell me that i am the only one who has experienced this problem then try typing in the words "Talktalk p2p" in a google search and see just how many other 1000's of other people are having the same problem.

i would be more than happy to keep the land line with TT if only i could drop the FRRE broadband and get it from somewhere else, but i dont think this is even possible.

P.S. just what are your "restrictions on excceding dowload limits"????

This is interesting to hear. Can you explain the process, ie how would one go about reverse migrating a TalkTalk exchange line back to BT without incuring a normal reconnection charge of around £125?

    Hello Drunkstar,

Thanks for the post. If you have an active TalkTalk LLU connection you can go back to BT for free, its called a Reverse Migration and you just call BT and they will take the line back free of charge subject to you accepting there T&C`s which currently include a 12/18 month contract.

If you are still within your 18 month contract with TalkTalk then you would be charged £70.00 for leaving us early however if out of 18 months then you wouldn't be charged anything from TT or BT.

If you call BT and allow them to sell you a new line, then its a different story and you will pay around 150.00.

    Hope this helps

    Hello vanman,

With regards to the gaming is the sync or broadband connection dropping completely or is the broadband connection stable but the connection to the game disconnecting. I need to understand this because if it is the broadband connection which is dropping then it isn’t going to be anything to do with the fact that you are gaming however if it is the game connection then it’s something else and if so do you know which ports these games use if not don’t worry I am sure I can find them.

If a customer goes over the 40Gb limit they should receive a letter advising them. With regards to P2P apps naturally due to the legal implications of using such apps for illegal downloads “not that I am saying that this is what you are using them for!” I don’t wish to comment on them individually however a TalkTalk customer should be able to use P2P apps even when a customer reaches the 40Gb limit we DO NOT stop or CAP a customer ability to browse or download from legal sites.

    Hope this helps
