  • I had heard so much about the TalkTalk Broadband Telephone Deal, including reading about it on this site, that I decided to give it a go. I had been with BT for my Phone and AOL for my broadband for about two and half years without any problems whatsoever.
All appeared to be going well with the switchover. My live date was given as the 7th March. No internet connection on the 7th:cry: so I phoned and was told to wait until after 12 midnight. So I waited until the next day and still nothing:cry: . I phoned every two days and was told on each occasion to wait another 48 hours as there was a technical probles. Today is Friday - eight days after the live date - still no connection, and after spending 30minutes on the phone:mad: with TalkTalk personnel said that I had had enough and was cancelling my contract with them. Guess what - not a bit bothered at all were they.
I had expected more from them to be honest. Needless to say I've gone back to good old AOL/BT. It might cost me £4.00 more amonth but at least i get peace of mind which is worth a lot.

  • Another of the Fingerbottoms recently changed our internet to TalkTalk and we've had nothing but problems.

The broadband is terrible. The connection drops out all the time. If you look on the TalkTalk forums, every third thread complains about this issue.

TalkTalk's support is appauling. When Brother Fingerbottom rang up TalkTalk tech Support, they fobbed him off with what was basically 'turn it on and off again'. When I rang up they transferred my call and I spent 25mins on hold listening to that awful 'Something In the Air' song from their ads and then the line went dead.

Here's the real problem: To make a decent saving with calls and internet, TalkTalk requires that you transfer your landline to them. But this means your stuck with their internet because every other Internet Service Provider requires that you have a BT landline (if you know of one that doesn't, please post). To change back to a BT landline, BT will charge your £125. So don't be fooled with the 30 day broadband trial, as long as your have them running your landline, you are F'd in the A.

My advice: DO NOT change your line BT to a TalkTalk landline.

the talktalk problems thread is 134 posts long, the tt threads on other board are full of people with problems, at which point did you decide it couldn't happen to you?

so that'll be talk talk then?! be very careful not to take talktalk phone, if you do at any time they may decide to 'unbundle' your broadband onto the talktalk kit (don't worry, they won't inform you. first thing you'll notice is the connection dropping), frying pans and fires spring to mind
