    I tend to use http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php
I think BT may have their own one.

before i opt fpr the talk talk £16.39 deal. has anyone been able to squeeze any extras from them, like a free wireless router?? ;)
  • No. All we managed to get was a free modem and it didn't work anyway. Also 6 months with no telephone. I would like to say that all is now well. But I am unable to access my e mail today which is quite annoying.

Yip free activation and free wireless router so £60 saved! I was an existing phone customer but still try it! What to do is sign up as normal paying the charges then a few days later phone the "Cancellations Dept" and sa you've changed your mind due to the expensive outlays and you can't afford it. I'm sure they'll then offer to credit your account back with the charges!

Let me know how you get on!

 DOH! Keep forgetting to say it isn't a wireless "pack" - you will still need to have or buy an adapter. £10 from PLAY.com!
  • I have just got off the phone with talks$£t, sorry talktalk.

Don't go there. I enquired about broadband 18 months ago but didn't actually order at the time.
2 months ago I tried to order online and it said I already had an order in place.
So I phoned them up and asked what was going on.
They said "order must have been cancelled. No probs they said. we'll reinstate that order and get you connected (Well, the third person I talked to said that)

So 2 weeks go by and NOTHING. So I phoned them up. "yes everything is going through fine sir. Give us 15 days and you should hear something."

Now i looks like I am moving soon so I phoned today (about 2 weeks after the last conversation) to ask if I could cancel my order.

I was told that the original order had been cancelled and there was no other order in place!!!

I said well that's good but I did make the point that I had been waiting for a month and that once I have moved I will NOT be moving to talktalk.

Rubbish. Just Useless. Don't do it. You'll be stuck with them for 18 MONTHS. probably 2 years by the time they've connected you.

Now I see why they tie you in for so long. And I thought they'd be worried about you going somewhere CHEAPER!

I understand some people are having issues but they are the only ISP to have a site like this http://www.talktalkmembers.com and getting major problems sorted and noticed right away.

talktalk do have plenty of forum space dedicated to them, though reading a few of the posts on the official TT forum increased *if possible) my sympathy for the users
