Haven't posted all week so cue mega post! Needed some time off this forum as there are some not so nice people around (not on the DFW board though!).

Am up to 9 NSD's and doing ok money wise. Everything has gone mental at work, my employer (local authority) has essentially gone bankrupt so there's LOTS of uncertainty around. Luckily we are a statutory service so should avoid the worst of the cuts and also receive funding from the MoJ which might mean we're slightly more protected than others. Needless to say everyone is really angry at what's happened. Have to admit looking around at other jobs yesterday just to see what might be out there as the next few years are going to be so difficult. But we soldier on!

Not much else going on at the moment, I will be spending today as have to sort out OH's birthday presents as it's snuck up on me very quickly! Lots of jobs to do indoors too. Couldn't sleep as my back pain has flared up so popped to sainsbury's first thing while it was quiet and got some bits to make a spicy cauliflower curry that I've not tried before. Also saw some Irish cream liqueur on offer so thought why not! Will keep it for the festive period.

Next week will be busy as I have my first shifts at my zero hours job. In hindsight that's looking like a good decision as there's talk of pay cuts at my main job and reductions in hours too. Don't think I'll be able to pay any extra off my car this month as work aren't allowed to authorise any outstanding expenses at the moment, am owed £60 which is annoying but in the grand scheme of things it's not the end of the world, I'll just have to be patient.

Right, on with some jobs. Stay safe turtles!
  • Well lm struggling with nsd’s haven’t had any yet, think the sod it phrase comes to mind and online shopping is so easy. I will need to rein it back and as my daughter said there’s only so much leopard print you can buy. Plus where am l going to wear it all as were not going anywhere.

Glad to hear DS3's result was clear @f0xh0les :)

DH spent a small amount (< £5) in A1d1 today. No other spends anticipated - unless I do some online Xmas shopping :)

Grateful for: central heating, selling a big lump of granite which is being collected in about 30 mins, easy food, using up lefovers, getting more things sorted out

Early morning wake up from mum - handing me the phone to deal with queries about our broadband speed (been slow all week, my games won't load - but some are supported by adobe and being discontinued.  Back hurt so it was hard to even sit up, throat so sore I could barely speak, feeling around for my glasses and she wants to know if I can check my broadband speed now (ma'am). Throwing stuff about trying to get at the laptop. She kept asking me every few minutes if I had done what she had asked me (no I'm still waiting for various screens to load) then passed me on to an engineer. Admitted I was unsure if broadband or dying laptop was at fault, guiding me round the keyboard and then asked me to turn laptop on. So I turned it off and back on again and - nothing, won't come back on. Asked if I had a mobile phone, a smartphone - NO. So she gave up, said they would send me an engineer. At which point the phone cut out (but not sure if it was a powercut). Put laptop on charge and it is currently working but not sure for how long.

May be time to replace it. Just tried to sign up to CEX online and they won't accept the phone number, they want a current mobile number. Grr. Tossco don't seem to do them anymore - just accessories. Also need to source a microwave as that is on it's last legs - mum said arseda was best and she could get one for £7 (with £10 off). Scrambled through the euro nix leaflet and was one for £70 (£69.99 actually) with the £10 off. Well I'm supposed to be fluent in mumspeak and know what she means even if it's not what she said.

More tidying done, excess toiletries put away (only full or nearly full suncream for next year, used all the bits), a 'medical' pile gathered and put away, bubble wrap and large plastic bags safely corralled once more, two bags for life full of random items pulled off the floor (embroidery fabric box fell off the bed midweek, got most of it back but stray threads spread over a wide area, ditto box with all the garden seeds and other bits that won't stay where they are put), lots of little trips to the recycling bins. Can see most of the floor. Spent some time reading and cutting shapes out of glitter card and felt (green hearts to make trees, different sizes of gold stars and a turquoise snowflake, I have plans for purple penguins. Cut a few bits of my hair (ends were starting to curl/ stick out).

Yesterday was a spend day. Probably spent too much on craft materials (will pass on all the pink bits), but also sorted mum's present  - 2 A4 magnifying screens, one to go inside one of the cupboard doors (conversion charts for baking, oven regulos etc) and the other will be partnered with a book stand so she can have a cook book open and be able to read the whole thing rather than checking with a magnifying glass all the time, when she wants to make a cake.

I am grateful for not needing to go outside, for wearing down techies even though I had been abruptly woken up and bits of me were not functioning, for easy food.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Saturday- yesterday was NSD 9, today was yet another small spend. Unavoidable but annoying, however now I've lost the NSD I'm going to order a couple of December day presents online. I think I'm going to struggle to get 18 NSDs, but at least by trying I'm keeping the spending under some sort of control.
    Not much else to report
  • hi everyone, hope you are all keeping warm and dry in this horrible weather
I've had lots of small spends on food, cat food and house insurance.  Left my friend a magazine and some chocolate yesterday as she had dental work after being in pain for weeks :( Been quite good at keeping up with exercise classes.  Managed a short walk today between the rain showers.

Today I am grateful for dd's company in a trip to a local shop for elastic and a good mooch (and some good finds) around their cmassy items, for discovering we have access to amzn prime video = the autumn rugby international matches = yay!, for dd's dance teacher letting her do her classes without video as she had bad tummy ache, for pottering on with mask-making for the step kids + their families,  for a warm snug house.
