Problems with Jaja.

  • I've just had a similar experience as mattyj87's wife above, reg my card info.

     After filling out the online form and clicking to register am getting the message 'this service is currently unavailable'. That's the 3rd time over 5 days this has happened. Rang customer service, eventually got through to a guy called Liam who operates from a centre at Milton Keynes, who said there doesn't seem to be a problem his end that he could fix, he suggested I try to reset my password on the form and if that doesn't work try again next week.

    The cynic in me thinks this could be a ploy to frustrate non profitable customers into cancelling their accounts,
    They can't be this incompetent, shirley :/

    As I've no wish to be hanging on the phone to jaja CSD, is the address in very faint grey letters at the bottom of their website the one to write to cancel my card.
    3 Valentine Place, 3rd Floor, London, England, SE1 8QH  as I can find no other CSD address on the website which I thought was a legal requirement.
    If you look here https://jaja.co.uk/complaints/ there is another address;
    Jaja Finance Customer Services, PO Box 10782, Wigston, LE18 9HS
    Good luck

    That's the old Bank of Ireland Card postal address. It's a Box at the Royal Mail Sorting Centre in Wigston, Leicestershire, the mail goes to a nearby business called Paragon Customer Communications (formerly RR Donnelley) to whom Bank of Ireland (and now Jaja) have outsourced the business administration and support functions.

    These are, presumably, the same people who (eventually) answer the phones when you call, and is probably the best place to write if you want to cancel your card. The Valentine Place address in Waterloo is just JaJa's Head Office operation and customer correspondence sent there will in all likelihood get forwarded to Leicestershire anyway.

    Who knew that a company that named itself after the least-welcome character in the Star Wars canon would be so unsatisfactory? :-)

    Just wondered if people have received their new credit card from Jaja and when?  I am still waiting.

    My new black Jaja Visa credit card dropped through the letterbox a short while ago.
    I managed to activate it via the app quite easily.
    I have deliberately avoided using my (now former) Post Office Mastercard since the change to Jaja but may try the new card out  when I go abroad around Christmas time all being well. Hopefully by waiting to use it I may have avoided some of the problems listed upthread (he says with fingers crosssed).
    Interestingly though, there was no new Jaja T&C's sent with the new card. No 'summary box' or details of the APR etc. I know they said the old PO t&c's remain in force, but I would like to see Jaja's T&C's to ensure they are still the same as with the Post Office.

    That is indeed an interesting point. Given that the old Post Office card was a Mastercard and the new JaJa is a VISA then unless the old Ts & Cs made absolutely no reference whatsoever to the underlying Mastercard platform revised documentation should surely have been sent with the card?
  • JAJA are a complete Joke. After trying to register my old Post office card - I had to ring them. They then wanted all my information on the card including the password so I hung up as I wasnt prepared to give them this information bearing in mind there is so much fraud around. Instead I wrote to them - returning my card and requesting a final statement.... Guess what they did? They sent me a new card....
  • Anyone doing business with this company is taking a significant financial risk. Look at the reviews on Trustpilot and here. You cannot trust them to bill you correctly or to refund you if you have a credit balance. They will only let me register if I enter a security code sent to my email. This fails if I take longer than 30 seconds, but the email takes 60 seconds to arrive. I have tried for 3 weeks to get them to resolve this without any success. They promised to ring back and failed to do so.  I tried to cancel my card with customer services, but the agent said she was not authorised to cancel cards and someone would ring me back. I don't believe they will. I am now writing recorded delivery to cancel the card and would advise anyone else to do the same.

    The problem with the Jaja credit card is that it uses the Visa rate rather than the Mastercard rate.  So even with 0% fees, the Mastercard rate will be better than the Visa rate.

    eg:
    12/2/20
    1000 Euro

    Visa = £900.78
    Mastercard = £843.90

    So the Jaja Visa will cost £56.88 more than the Post Office Mastercard

    I've never seen such a difference between the rates, and using the links you gave, 1000 euros shows £908.58 on Visa and £908.50 with MC.

    Maybe set the Visa one to the 12th Feb - which shows as 02/12/2020 if you select it
    You selected an invalid date and it's defaulted to 2nd December 2020, as it says at the bottom of your screenshot.
