I've just had an email to say my mother's Scottish Power account is setup. It says the switchover is underway and they expect to start her supply on the 5th November. The tariff is shown as Basic Energy v2 and is only being available to former Tonik customers. I'm struggling to find a breakdown of the tariff, but they've left the direct debit unchanged.

    So far everything's gone smoothly.

I've found the tariff information (Login, My account, My account overview, Tariff Information Label, complete form, click View Tariffs, and look down the list!).

For illustration purposes, the monthly amount will increase from £64 with Tonik to £74 with Scottish Power. That's assuming there's no discount available for duel fuel, but none is mentioned.

    Email from the Ombudsman Service.

As you may be aware, Tonik Energy ceased trading on 6 October 2020. As the company is no longer trading, it will not be in a position to carry out any action we may have required.  For this reason, we have unfortunately had to close your case.
This applies whether your case was awaiting investigation, being investigated or we had reached a decision and you were awaiting action from Tonik Energy to put things right.
We appreciate that this will be frustrating and we’re sorry that we are unable to continue handling your complaint.
The end of the road for my complaint.

Also received email saying account set up. Basic Energy v2 which is variable rate and only for ex Tonik customers. However this is not listed on their list of tariffs. There is a standard tariff listed but I am not sure this is the same as the Basic Energy v2 tariff I have been put on. The standing charge and p/kWh rates on the listed standard tariff are quite a bit higher than my Tonik tariff was. My direct debit has increased by 1p, yes 1p per month due to be collected on 26th of each month. They have said transfer takes place on 5 November.

I have just provided my details to Scottish Energy - how long should I wait before starting a switch to another supplier?

Just wondering the same thing. Although if the rates are similar to Tonik it may be better to wait a while

You will be given a date when Scottish Power takes over the supply - in my mother's case this was the 5th November. After that, you will be free to move elsewhere.

If you go onto a comparison site you can select Scottish Power -> Basic Energy v2 as your current supply and then see the rates in the quote.
In my case its a whopping 23% more expensive than my Tonik Green superpower tariff. In the current market its 15% higher than the cheapest fix tariff I can sign up to right now and 9% higher than the cheapest big 6 fix.
    No thank you....
Once I get my SP switch confirmed you can be guaranteed I'll be swapping away ASAP and almost certainly giving my new supplier the same opening reads as I gave SP, if they can take the !!!!!! so can I.

To those comparing DD amounts and thinking its all hunky dory, that is the oldest supplier trick in the book. DD's mean nothing unless they cover what you are actually being charged.
