Yes thats what I thought, just wondered.pmd wrote:I read this and thought "well, OK, lots of MSE lurkers have chosen to post" - but, looking more carefully, a lot of people only seem to have joined in June 2005! CLIC - Challenging Cancer & Leukaemia in Childhood
https://www.clic.org.uk.
Helping familes cope with the devastation of childhood cancer & leukaemia.
Today and every single day of the year, another five families will be told that their child has cancer or leukaemia.
As the mum of a healthy, happy little girl I cannot being to imagine the pain and heartbreak such news would bring and it's with a sense of 'there by the grace of god' (and so many others of us) that I want to nominate CLIC for Martin's donation.
Many of these children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will never heal. CLIC's role is to try and and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands on care, clinical services and financial and emotional support. They provide free accommodation close to oncology centres around the UK allowing families to stay together during periods of treatment, Crisis Breaks and Care Grants which can be a lifeline at a time when families are under increased financial pressure. CLIC Doctors, Nurses and Play Specialists also care for families and children at home and in hospital.
CLIC recieves no government funding whatsoever and urgently need funds to reach those children and their families in the UK where they cannot yet afford to have a presence. Shockingly, 1 in 650 children are affected by cancer or leukaemia in the UK before they reach their 16th birthday. And five more will be diagnosed today0 -

1. Helen & Douglas House Children's Hospice
2. http://www.helen-house.org.uk
3. A hospice for children and young people
4. I have never had any need for the services of a hospice and I pray that I never do, however many children and young adults do.
It has a total of 15 beds with 3 emergency beds, split between 2 houses – Helen House Hospice for children aged 0 to 18, and Douglas House Respice for young people aged 16 to 40. An extremely deserving cause that runs entirely on donations. They need just under £3 million a year to provide the 1to1, 24 hour care that is so crucial to the children, young people and families who need our help. It doesn't matter how you give, or how much – every penny makes a difference.
I commend them to you as a very deserving charity..0 -
1. RSPCA
2. http://www.rspca.org.uk
3. Treats and supports animals in need
4. The RSPCA has never received any direct financial support from the government, yet the costs of preventing cruelty and promoting kindness never seem to stop rising. Our running costs are £78 million a year.
Here are a few examples of what your donation could do:
£5 could feed a cat for a week
£10 could safely board a cruelty case horse for a day
£25 could kit out an inspector with hard hat, boots and life jacket
£50 could help equip an inspector's van with an animal first-aid kit, pet carrier and animal catching setI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

https://www.differentstrokes.co.uk
National charity supporting younger stroke survivors since 1996.
In the UK stroke is a major killer, comparable with cancer , heart and respiratory diseases, and it is the largest single cause of severe disability.
Stroke is commonly seen as an affliction of old age, yet it frequently strikes people in the prime of life, often for no known reason. In the UK, each year over 10,000 people of working age have a stroke - nearly 200 every week. Over 1000 of these are under the age of thirty - 450 of them are children.
Different Strokes provides practical information packs, a regional network of exercise classes and/or swimming sessions, benefits and rights information, advice and info on education, training and work opportunities, newsletters to keep members in touch with each other, an interactive website, access to counselling services, and a helpline to ensure a prompt and practical response to the problems which confront stroke survivors and their families.0 -
East Suffolk Mind - Stowmarket Mental Health Resource Centre
https://www.esmind.org.uk
We are a local community mental health charity.
The Stowmarket Community Resource Centre for Mental Health offers a range of day service facilities for people suffering from mental ill health. People who suffer from enduring mental health problems are often on extremely low incomes. Because of this, they need to be “money saving experts” and have access to money saving information like you produce on your website. We would love to provide an internet connected suite in our centre that would enable our members and visitors to easily access information online that can educate them on how to make the very most of their limited income. It would not only be an educational tool but also a way of empowering those who often think so little of themselves. Mental ill health can affect anyone. One in four people will suffer from a mental health problem in their lifetime. Access to information that empowers can make a big difference.0 -

Group B Strep Support
www.gbss.org.uk
Awareness and support for babies infected with GBS
Group B Strep is responsible for greatest number of deaths of newborn babies in UK. It is generally little known or understood, even by the medical profession, yet in other countries there are proper screening programmes for it and consequently adequate measures are taken to prevent babies becoming infected. GBSS aims to promote awareness in parents and medics alike and campaigns for more research into the causes of infection and ways of screening effectively. The charity offers support to carriers and parents who have had babies infected with GBS. They are a small charity but somehow manage to make an incredible difference to a large number of people at a time when they need all the support they can get.0
