This Charity has done so much already, It's so close to finding a cure, please help.
  • Name of charity: St Giles Hospice
    Web address : https://www.stgileshospice.com

Provide care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses. :A

I am nominating this charity as my mom passed away at St Giles Hospice in
Whittington , Lichfield nearly 2 years ago now. The care and dignity which is given to their patients is outstanding.

Losing a family member is a heartbreaking time. The care and support myself and my family members were also given was excellent, i know i couldn't have got through it without the staff at St Giles, they also keep in touch
months later to see how your coping with your loss.

Many people who go to the Hospice have very little time left, so its reassuring to know when you have to pop home your loved ones are still getting alot of T.L.C :A

The hospice relies on funding to stay open, and is always greatful of any much needed extra money so they can continue their work.

    A truly wonderful Hospice :A
  • 1. Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA)

    2. https://www.clapa.com

3.Vital support for those affected by cleft lip and/or palate

    4. One child in every 700 is born with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate. In the UK, 3 babies are born with the condition each day.

Most people are unaware of cleft lip and/or palate, or assume that an operation in early life is all that it involves. In fact, in many cases, hospital treatment lasts into early adulthood and involves numerous operations, extensive orthodontic work, speech and language therapy and psychological support.

CLAPA is the only UK charity providing support and information to those affected. Vital services include a website, a large range of literature, a network of 40 branches run by over 300 volunteers all over the UK, 3 internet chat sites for children, adults and parents and confidence-building children’s camps.

In addition, CLAPA is the only source of special ‘squeezy’ bottles and teats to feed babies with the condition. Without your support these services will not continue.

    1: FareShare

    2: https://www.fareshare.org.uk

3: Redistributes food industry surpluses to people in need

4: From their web site: "FareShare is the national charity that redistributes quality surplus food from the food industry to organisations working with homeless and vulnerable people in community day centres and hostels. " I suggest that this is in the spirit of MoneySaving: preventing waste. Rather than supermarkets trashing food which is still safe and good but is passed its display date, it can reach people who need it and help them eat a healthier diet and save money for the organisations supporting them to spend in other ways. By saving the food from going to landfill it helps save the planet. (See Impact Reports on web site for more details). It works in 8 UK locations with 250 volunteers and a few paid staff. It's a small charity, founded 1994 by the charity Crisis, so MSE's money would make a real difference in helping this food-saving, health-saving, planet-saving, work.

  • 1. Re~Cycle

    2. https://www.re-cycle.org

    3. Collects unwanted bicycles and ships them to Africa

    4. Many African's spend 1/4 (or up to 1/2) of their daily income on transport, or walk for 4-hours per day to fetch water, take goods to market etc. A bike saves them money every day and helps to escape the poverty trap. Bikes are used by outreach workers, so less time is wasted travelling, e.g. health (including HIV/AIDS) and agricultural education. Bikes are used to get to school; education will help people’s job prospects and increase the family income. In the UK Re~Cycle works with probation and young offenders, helping to get them into productive roles. Money has been invested in making the bikes already, refurbishing is cost effective! As a very small charity, the money will make a huge difference.

    Thank you very much.
    Bicycle Aid for Africa

    https://www.re-cycle.org

MANY THANKS to all who vote for Re~Cycle in the MSE charity money votes, its a HUGE help!
  • I hope I'm doing this correctly (?) There's no obvious (to me) way of nominating a charity --?

Re-Cycle collects unwanted bicycles and ships them to needy communities in a variety of African countries

    Their website is: https://www.re-cycle.org

I support Re-Cycle because they provide cheap, reliable transport to people whose lives are already miserable beyond belief and for whom transport can often mean the difference between survival and intolerable living conditions, enabling them to reach employment and even food and water.
