  • Hi there I have been caught out by the unscrupulous actions of onecom as well. We originally took out a contract with BPD (thought we were dealing with vodafone) in january 2013 for 24 months all seemed ok until we started getting phone calls from the company trying to ram additional products down our necks. At some point BPD was taken over by onecom no notification was given of this take over/merger we only noticed recently when they were trying to get us to transfer our landlines to them. I requested that they send me the quote in writing via email or post, which never materialised. The next thing I know is somebody rings BT pretending to be my partner
asking for MAC code to port my number. BT emailed me to say sorry I am leaving!! I called BT and requested they stop the action immediately, upon questioning BT they stated my partner had requested the MAC code when I asked what the number was that she called from the BT operative stated the number it had no correspondence to myself or my partner. Bt suggested I make a formal complaint to offcom which I did and am awaiting the outcome. I called vodafone to complain about this and they just said it was an issue for one com as my contract is with them although my bill comes from vodafone! We have just asked for our pac codes from onecom as we are at the end of our tether with persistently ringing to complain only to be told that some one will call me back which never happens. It took 10 days for us to get our PAC codes and when we didi receive them onecom told us that we now have a 3yr contract and will have to pay a years line rental. I find it mad that a business can operate in such an awful manner and how vodafone can proudly call it a platinum partner.

    TL;DR

Don't post the same book of woe in another posters thread, you already have your own thread and it will just confuse and complicate matters when people do try and help (once you edit your thread post into something the average person can actually read).

    Good morning,

First time poster here, but this has angered me a lot and I wanted to add my opinion and seek assistance.

Last Tuesday I was called by someone I was given the impression was from Vodaphone. They described themself as a Vodaphone representative or something similar, my contract was coming up for renewal so I mistakenly assumed it must be Vodaphone otherwise how would they know this right?

I was talked at in a not particularly clear way and bombarded with lots of tariff cost options and offers of cash back. First £50 then finally £150. One thing I was not offered was a new handset.

Eventually he settled on exactly the same tariff options, mins, texts and data for slightly less than I'm currently paying, with £150 cash back but no hand set. telling me I can buy a handset...

Now, I kept saying throughout the call that I would like a handset, but agreed to the tariff with the intention of going to a Vodaphone store and discussing the contract and getting a new phone using the cash back towards it.

After two visits to a Vodaphone store and three phone calls to the Vodaphone help centre I now realise I was duped by the "Vodaphone" representative and now my account is managed by onecom, and that Vodaphone have no control over my tariff... Excellent.

I have sent an email to the complaints address: executive@onecom.co.uk but it gets bounced, presumably to slow down or prevent you being able to cancel a contract by email as they can claim you haven't contacted them. The text of the email is as follows: "Your message couldn't be delivered because the address you're sending to needs to know who you are before it will let your message through. To fix this problem, contact the recipient (by phone or instant messaging, for example) and tell them to ask their email admin to set the recipient's mailbox to accept messages from you." So you need to know the name of the person who reads email sent to an anonymous address.... Right.

My next course of action is to phone them tomorrow as this is within the 7 days cooling off period but I am concerned that I have been switched to a business tariff as others have stated here. There was no specific discussion of this during the call and I would hope that as I have ended up with the same tariff in terms of mins text and data that this hasn't happened. Also have not received a hard copy of the T&Cs from them and have no idea whether or how I will get the cash back from them.

My big issue with the tariff I now have is that as I didn't get a new handset, surely I should have been offered a sim only contract or similar, and therefore I have been sold something for a higher cost purely for the gain of Vodaphone through Onecom?!

My wife has had an account with Vodaphone for about 20 years, and I moved my contract over to her account from O2 a few years ago to make things easier to manage. My line is a second line on her account, is the contract change possible with this situation?

I would have been quite happy to stay with Vodaphone, so why is this part of their business practise? Why are they content to screw over existing happy customers by passing details over to Onecom to potentially be strong-armed into another contract that is probably not exactly what you wanted?!?

I don't understand! I can see that ultimately it is in vodaphones best interests as they are getting continued revenue from customers, but my wife is due for a renewal soon too and unless this is resolved satisfactorily she will be ceasing her 20 year custom with Vodaphone.
  • I too have fallen for the One Com hard sell, my fault and been kicking myself ever since!
I ended up with a Business Verbal Contract with no cooling off period for 36 months and two new phones.
My main problem is the price I was quoted by One Com and the amount Vodafone are charging are different, Vodafone being more as they are charging for an 'extra' which I understood from One Com was included in the price quoted by them and is confirmed in the 'verification' section of the 'Verbal Contract' ( which I now have a copy of) and via email confirmation which I had to ask for ( both amounts confirmed by One Com are different as well).
There are a few other minor things which were agreed to or I was told would happen, which have not been done.
Does this mean One Com have broken their Verbal Agreement and can I therefore get out of the contract???
The 'Verification' part also states that the 'Verbal Agreement' also includes the conversation I had just had with the rep from One Com so should I also have a 'copy' of that conversation?

It would be best to complain to One Com via the complaints procedure they have, list the terms that you both agreed to and request they either be instigated or be released from the contract for lack of fulfilment.

If they fail to honour the agreed contract then take it to the Ombudsman

If there was misrepresentation which induced you to enter into the contract, it can be rescinded or else you can claim damages.
