How do we just get the post that we are quoting and not what was quoted in that post as well?
I don’t think you can. It’s called a quote tree.
You have to delete ones you don’t want. Annoying.
When quoting someone's post you always have to delete the bits of it you don't want.  On the old forum if the post you are quoting included a quote or quotes, which it made sense to include for context, it would not come through in your quote so you would have to go and get it manually from the previous post or its source and insert it at the relevant point.

Now the quotes do come through as quoted quotes and you can delete it manually if you don't want or need it, just like you can delete most of the rest of the post manually if you don't want it or need it.  For me, that's better functionality.

You have noticed on your Profile page there is a 'quote settings' option which allows you to choose when reading the forum whether the quote trees will be automatically 'folded up' one or more levels. So if people don't want to see quoted quotes within their view settings, they can set it to fold at level 1 and then when reading the forum, just 'unfurl' them at the press of a button if they feel like it.

It would probably help the forum team if you told them what operating system, browser (I'm guessing Chrome from the screenshot) and versions of both you are using - that way they can look into specific issues rather.

I used to have it set up so that threads I responded on were automatically bookmarked.

Anyone know how, or if, we can do this in this new and exciting* upgraded.

    * There may be a smidging of irony there
If you jus want notifications of responses where you have commented on a thread you can set this up in notifications. There are lots of options. I haven’t bookmarked this thread, but got a pop-up notification because I have commented.

I hope they they fix the notification pane soon, as it’s one of the new features i’m really starting to appreciate (even in its current confused state). Hopefully more people will also upload avatars over the next few days.
Except that 'notifications' is useless all I get is a blank list which gives no clue as to what the notification actually is.

......and why is the 'new posts' button only available on the landing page?
It's not entirely useless - I see some of them as pop-ups, I know how many there are, and for those users who have uploaded avatars I have a fairly good idea of where I'm likely to see them posting.
This function WAS working earlier yesterday, so it's obviously a glitch and hopefully will become a useful addition when it has been ironed out. It's not that long since the changes were made, and it's still the weekend (and it seems plenty is happening) so I think we can give them a bit of time to work out what matters most to most users, and how we're using it.
Obviously if I was paying for this I'd be going through the contract right now and checking KPIs/penalties BUT as I'm not paying, and it's not causing me any real issues (other than wasted time, and I can achieve that perfectly well without help) I'm prepared to give the team some leeway.

Apologies if this has already been raised, using search function didn't throw up any matches.

I'm using safari and most annoying thing is when I use the backarrow or CTRL + [ to go to the previous forum page, it flashes up and then disappears whilst it reloads the page from scratch.

I saw the quote tree but there is no setting for zero
That’s right, there is no 0 setting. That’s why we’re stuck with quote trees.

There's a "don't fold quote" option, but not sure what this does. I've tried it out, but I still seem to get lots of previous quotes which I've deleted.
