Happy NY to you all and here's the the roaring 20s  let's make them a decade of joy, laughter, peace and contentment
I'm debating whether to go for a run in a minute before oh goes to work  it's either now, tonight (which I don't like) or not at all. So really it's now or never! didn't go  will do some exercise at home as unlikely I'll go at 7.30 this evening....
me & madam today think we're going to head to the wildlife park for a mooch around... postponed to tomorrow at madam's requestlego instead  (my first ever elgo building!
also we have planned a painting/paper maiche session
Also:
[STRIKE]* check banking[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* do money shuffle[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] go through cc statement, pay from various accounts[/STRIKE] & close accounts for last year
* all meals from stores - pate pasta today - use up in full force!
[STRIKE]* make a loaf of bread[/STRIKE]
* try to not think about the things that are on my mind and causing my mood to go low again mostly done alright with this
* read book and [STRIKE]have a nice soak in the bath[/STRIKE] listened to audio book instead;)
[STRIKE]* TOMM - kitchen[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* overnight oats for lunch[/STRIKE] - I've been doing intermittent fasting so eat between 12-8. It has helped me only gain 3 lbs over the hols despite chocolates (weirdly since I've been ill I've gone off sugary things so that's a bonus!) and lots of alcohol. Now it's the NY and I'm back off of alcohol I imagine those 3 lbs will disappear over the next week or two
* changed energy supplier saving £1 a month :money: :j
ok that's my lot I think. Hope you all have a good day :A

Morning all
Planning to go out this morning as there is some shopping I need to do - a boring household item that we are running short of, and a birthday present for a friend I will be seeing tomorrow. Will be visiting a neighbouring town, but will not be buying coffee or food out - it isn't that far. Done, also bought some half priced Christmas cards to put away, a birthday card for DD and a loaf. The car park machine was out of order (had been for about 2 weeks according to a local lady I spoke to) so got free parking
Other things:
Some more cleaning /tidying. If I do a bit a day it seems less overwhelming. I will tackle the sitting room today. Done
Log onto both OH's and my HMRC accounts to see if there is more tax to pay. It was easier when they used to send a billNot yet
Look in stash to see if I have suitable birthday cards for DD2, whose birthday is on Sunday, and friend (the 11th). Found a nice one at home for my friend, but had to buy one for DD.
Check banks Done
Crackers, cheese etc for lunch Had some of the nice sourdough loaf I bought instead of crackers. Also finished off some grapes and a few crisps left from a bag I opened when we had people round over Christmas.
Fish and ratatouille for dinner (both from freezer). Will make some sort of gratin with it. Done, put ratatouille in a pie dish, stirred in a few olives, placed fish on top, seasoned, scattered breadcrumbs and some grated parmesan on top and baked in the oven. Had green beans from the freezer on the side, and finished up the Christmas pudding for afters
Maybe make some more carrot and lentil soup, as I still seem to have an abundance of carrots Not yet
No alcohol - I don't drink much to be honest, but have decided to do dry January to kick start diet / fitness improvement. Done
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning everyone
-banking checked, everything good
-plan to get out first thing to get to the post, drop a repeat presciption off, drop a couple of things off at CS
-pop to the supermarket. One of the cats a solid 1 stone 1 pound ginger tom was poorly before christmas. He is still on antibiotics which are getting harder and harder to give him. He hasnt a big appetite at the best of times, beef and turkey have proved unpopular, we've done pilchards, tuna, sardines. The best seems to be tuna so going to get some more today the cheap tesc@ one for him to pop his meds in.
-me and DD are having turkey casserole with bits from the freezer
-want to do a couple of work bits today, should only take half hour if i get my act together.
-do some more tidying. Ive put most of the presents away including sale items bought (still cannot find DDs 2 missing presents, looked in all my normal storage places, found a 2018 present at Easter last year!!!)
-Bin and recycling out today but have so much recycling esp cardboard i have held some back until next week or they wont take any of it.
-pop a wash on(eco setting)
-dishwasher on a short wash
Thats about it from me. Have a great day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Welcome to the thread MoneyMess . I hope you stick with us as its a great thread.
Dnms, it sounds like a lovely day you have planned, I hope that helps with your mood.
Dawn, your food always sounds so appealing!
HK , I've misplaced a gift too, sooooo frustrating!Although luckily it was for me!
Again not sure of our plans today as everyone is still off. I'm hoping the weather clears up a bit so that we feel like getting out for a bit.
I'll definitely be keeping up with the small things. I'll pop back later with what we actually do!
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all
Happy New Year to all of you - my lovely MSE friends. I had a very quiet one, which meant that I was fully functioning yesterday for my annual NYD lunch with one of my best friends. All the bills have gone out today so normal service is resuming.
I'm mostly planning enjoying the last bit of my time off work before I'm back into it next week but I also need to:
Pop to Mr S for a few bits (hoping I can put this off and get a nsd)
Collect a parcel
Do at least 1 load of washing
Put the Christmas decorations away
Wade through the finances again but I am just about on track
Daily crochet
It's not much, but more than I have been doingHave a good day all
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Just got a badge - 1 year anniversary - I can't believe it's been a year. My finances are not desperately better, I dont have any magic savings and I have built up some private debt. But basically in this year I have become so much better at sticking with a budget, I have not had any new credit - the private debt is for a car, a visit to family where something additionally went wrong with the tickets. I am so much happier, still in a weird job situation, but with a combo that works 10 month a year, kids are good and have only marginally been affected.
I have started my DMP journey and in the summer I will crank the screw to get two more small loans defaulted and possibly one deemed unenforcable.
Happy new year to everybody on this forum and I hope by the end of next year I will actually have made more of a dent in mydebts and start to think about other things, but still not spend any money.
