We went to where we know one hangs out, but it wasn't there today. Probably staying indoors to avoid a massive flock of Black Headed Gulls who would certainly nick its fish.

    Good evening all,

We're having a quiet night in tonight, no dressing up, drinking and dancing for us. Although I do have a bottle of bucks fizz in the cupboard that I was given so might open that if I feel like it later.

    Today we have
    * restored the two games consoles back to factory settings, packaged them up in boxes I'd kept and flattened over the last few months and posted them off to cex
    * called round to my parents with the peas/bacon I'd made yesterday as they like it, so we all had lunch together. Also took them some of the chickens we'd cooked.
    * came away from there with a chunk of my date cake that I'd made for xmas day but we didn't get round to eating as we were too full. Going to have that tonight with a cuppa.
    * called in to the coop but as they're open tomorrow anyway I didn't come away with a load of ys bargains like I did on xmas eve when it was going to be closed for xmas day.
    * found two old nintendo ds's at my mums that the boys used to play with when they were little (they'd been bought 2nd hand) have restored one to factory settings and found a game to go with it that cex will buy, need to see if there is anything else to sell to them before I package it up as I'm short on boxes - edit my mums just text to say she also has something to sell so I'll hang fire.. (the 2nd ds wouldn't be accepted by cex online so if I can find another game to go with it I'll offer it to a friend with younger kids)
    * eating from the freezer tonight, party bits and pieces and leftovers. Duck spring rolls was our little starter which was lovely! It might end up being 10 courses of nibbles ;)
    * set up my new dehumidifier, will be interesting to see what difference it makes.

    Thats about it.
All the best for 2020 to all the posters on here (and lurkers ;)

  • Hi everyone,

Just a quiet evening in front of the telly for us. Did a small food shop yesterday which was mainly ingredients for hubby to batch cook a veggie chilli tomorrow. I’m quite looking forward to taking the decorations down tomorrow and having a good tidy up. I should have done some today but I fell asleep on the sofa for 3 hours this afternoon

Budget for January done and banking checked
Finished off the Christmas cheese for lunch today
    Keep checking PMP
I need to get my hospital bag sorted for the arrival of bump. This will involve buying some bits from our baby budget but I have a list. Our friends and family have already been knitting and buying bits so we’re very lucky
Back to work on Thursday (boo) and I’ll be taking lunch and snacks

I’m looking forward to a new year and decade. 2020 will be difficult financially but I’ve done a draft budget for the year and feel motivated to stick to it. Excited to meet our DS, have some time away from work and explore frugal living a bit more (we’re planning on growing some fruit and veg which is exciting)

Dawn I left Fbook in February and haven’t missed it at all!

    Happy New Year everyone

Yesterday early evening we visited friends for a couple of hours and played games.
We saw the New Year in at home and followed the county down on the telly.
I toasted the new year with a cup of tea and a slice of toast & peanut butter, thank you Foxgloves for the reminder.

Plans for today are to gently reintroduce some structure into our lives.

Yesterday I decided not to buy milk, I may resist again today or I might give in, apples have also been added to the list.

    Today I am aiming to:
:snow_grin Have either a low or a no spend day Done, NSD
:snow_grin record any spends in new diary None to record :)
:snow_grin turn off lights and appliances, not in use Done
:snow_grin prepare tomorrows dinner Rolling over
:snow_grin check fridges for food that needs using up Done
:snow_grin transfer end of year figures to 2020 bank accounts spreadsheet Done
:snow_grin set up 2020 bills speeadsheet Rolling over
:snow_grin think about financial plans for 2020 Rolling over
:snow_grin discuss with OH about making an overpayment to the mortgage Rolling over
:snow_grin sort out games & puzzle cupboard, hopefully we can convince the children it is time to part with a few Done, they were very good and decided to part with 3 large ikea bags full!!!

We didn't have any alcohol last night but did stay up to watch the fireworks at midnight so we're all a bit slow at getting going this morning.

    So far though, I have
Emptied the dehumidifier and moved it into a different area of the house
Closed my December cashbook and opened my January one. - my December one was strange... all 8 accounts had £x and zero pence at the close!
Sorted through ds2s book shelf and he's decided to give several to the cs

The plan for the rest of the day (I think) is to have a day at home so
    * all meals from stores
    * sort through wardrobes and straighten up
    * drink more water
    * eat better (really must get back to eating for health!)
    * write a new freezer inventory as my pre xmas one is well out of date
    * general tidy and declutter as I go!

    Take care all.

Ziggy congratulations on your weight loss.
I too would benefit from losing 50 pounds.
This is something I want and need to address which is hampered by various health issues which make it hard to lose weight.
