NST January 2020: A Turtle Quest

Strange couple of days for me. Saturday started with a long convoluted dream (I was asleep for 4 hours but most of that wouldn't have been dream time). In retrospect it could have been frightening but was more farcical as more and more people turned up at was basically a 2 bed 'safe' house. Lots of people I knew plus a famous politician (who was about to be arrested) but no-one was the right ages - DS3 was about nine but my two brothers and their friends were only late teens/ early twenties. Definitely need to cut back on the caffeine (have been using it to help see off the dreaded bug).
The rest of the day passed quietly with no spending. Late evening my phone rang. I knew it was near me but it sounded muffled so I was scrambling to find where it was hiding. Caller phoned off as I found it and the missed call list was confusing.
I also had an answerphone message (supposedly 4 minutes long) which sounded like someone dropping or knocking the phone or alternatively someone unable to speak because they were crying. I rang mum (it was after her bedtime so if she was calling, it was something serious) but got the engaged signal, repeatedly.
Finally gather my stuff together, pulled some clothes on and went round to the taxi office. When we got there the house was in darkness but decided to check. Had to use the key box as I don't have a copy of the new padlock key. I knew the safety alarm would go off as it was after curfew, so I had to speak to the woman in the control room before proceeding.
Found mum fast asleep so went back to the living room and read for a bit then climbed into bed. Left my laptop and the key box keys out so that mum would know I was there and stayed in my room until I knew she was up. We ate leftovers from yesterday and then I came home.
I'm still counting both days as NSDs (11 now I think, no will say 10 to be on the safe side). Mum will probably refund the taxi fares and if not I will take it from my birthday money - mum has already given me my card. Other than that my birthday money is going in the penny tin.
Oh and my phone may have fallen out in last night's taxi cab - I packed so quickly that I wanted to check it wasn't at home first.
I am grateful that mum was safe, that my baby brother hadn't died, that everything fell into place easily, for not needing to be outside today - foggy and cold and wet, for yummy leftovers, good books (even if one of the plots was part of the dream), for feeling better (other people in the extended family are struggling to get over this bug) and for my lovely beds (both nere and at mum's).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
mothernerd - I hate late night phone calls.
I have ordered a new pair of trousers online. This will be the first new clothing purchase I have made for myself in an absolute age. I needed some walking trousers, I wear a pair of running tights for walking but when it is cold my thighs are freezing and I wanted something I can wear the tights under in winter. I have been on the look out in the charity shops for ages but I need a long leg lengh and they are not turning up, on ebay they go too high for used items. I got them on sale down from £50 to £19.
We have also bought 4 fruit trees today, I already had the money set aside for these, we got one cherry, one pear and two different apple varieties. We should have a little orchard with that lot, called into Home Bargains and got some Elbow Grease, dishwasher tablets and Stardrops cleaning paste.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Evening all
NSD number 12 here. Want to get at least 6 more before the end of the month. Up early today to go riding, got to the yard and it was too icy so went to volunteering instead and came back when it was warmer. Was actually a really nice day once the sun came out. Not going to lie I fell asleep on the sofa snuggled under a blanket after I got home :rotfl:
Today I'm grateful for sunshine and being warm despite it actually being cold out, for comfy naps on the sofa and for a quick massage from OH.0 -

Apologies for not posting over the weekend.
Added 2 days to my NSD Friday and Saturday NSD 9/16.
Had a lovely relaxing day Saturday with grandkids, yes it is possible. Cooked hotpot and an apple crumble, small walk around local park and a movie afternoon. Both kids were tired after busy week in school and nursery.
Sunday cleaned my cooker, cleaned offices, went did a top up shop in lidl and then did a long hilly walk 18k in the bag. Did stop for coffee and cake so lost a NSD but it was such a lovely day, sat and watched seals swimming in the sea. Usually only ever see them on the beach.
Today disaster day, back really hurts and booked 2 lots of tickets for events in November and bought a Senior rail card £30. Saved £5 on a short journey already and off to Scotland in April so it will pay for itself.
Can't wait to go home as back is making me squirm in office chair.
Grateful for
Lovely weather yesterday and today. Mountains with snow on look fab.

Been on first bike ride in over a month today, wasn't fun. Cleaned bathroom grout, hate this job, walked the dog for about an hour part of which was up a huge hill, made lentil dahl and flatbreads for tea.
