f0xh0les - wellies and snow boots are very generous in sizing compared to shoes and also a bit shapeless which may account for the size differences.

raphael/lcc86 - braces are so expensive especially the Invisalign ones, I was so glad DD qualified for free ones, they were the old fashioned metal type but she didn't care, she's had them off a year now and her teeth look lovely, she does have to wear retainers at night.

Had a very strange dream last night about being lost in the countryside in Norfolk. Woke up and laid there for a while thinking I had woken up super early, checked my phone and it was 7.40 am, I get up at 6.45 am, well you can imagine the speed I got up. DD was just finishing her makeup and told me she thought we were up, despite the complete silence, much arguing followed.

The end of our road is being dug up for the third time in a year, we have a 4 way light on, it is crazy, I have to come through 4 times a day just to do the school run, it is adding about an hour travelling to my day so I am sending the kids on the bus in the mornings from tomorrow, they don't know yet. Need to get some bus fare so will call at the Post Office for that.

Kitchen lights kept tripping electrics on Sunday so we have a gloomy kitchen - got a lovely local electrician out to them yesterday and several of the cables in the loft space had burned through:eek:

and we need new lights which looks like a new ceiling (and new coving and painting.... and the removal of some cupboards to enable this to happen....)

Also need a new fuseboard - if we had a newer style one it would likely have picked up the issue before this - and he will inspect the electrics elsewhere in the house at the same time (package deal and well worth it - the fuseboard/ inspection part alone is £520 - without fixing any faults (except minor ones) that may be found....

and the removal of the ceiling and a new one an painting and new coving

And we still have a broken dishwasher (for more than a month now...) -
AND my car...… decided to 'die' whilst driving off the drive this morning so it's in the garage -

Flippin' Eck greent, do you not understand the concept of ' one thing at a time'?? At least now you know, you won't come home and find your house on fire, or worse, it is annoying and will be spendy but will also be safe. Have you checked your home insurance? Bet you have already, I would recommend face first choc orange troughing after a few days like that. Circular therapy.

I want a magic money bed like mothernerds!
All my motivation for cleaning and tidying has bu66ered off overnight. I had weird dreams last night..... I was looking for insurance for the palm trees I had bought for some Palm Tree themed party I was having.... woke up with a what?????

According to the dream nonsense peoples:

Palm in the dream is a symbol of power and prosperity, often in a dream it predicts victory. ...means the solution of all problems that plague you. You just need some time in order to organize the thoughts and ideas.
    Or elsewhere ...
Your attempts to carry out a delusional and hopeless project, in the opinion of most of those around you, will end in incredible success - (all my projects are considered delusional in this house)

OR I might just fancy a coconut biscuit, or coconut macaroon, or madeleine....... or maybe I need a houseplant.

These aren't even the invisalign ones! These are the cheapest 'face full of wires' version. I should have had them as a kid really.

raphael I completely understand the teeth/self-consciousness thing, I'm in the middle of having braces too. Not very MSE or very frugal but sometimes if it makes you feel good about yourself and less self-conscious it's worth it.
Funny thing is I know I'm not gunna be self-conscious of the braces themselves. I'm hoping it will improve my saxophone playing too, I tend to bite down funny on my mouthpiece.

    Evening everyone!

Not been posting much as I've not really had anything to report except NSDs. Yesterday was number 11/16. Didn't get another today as I did an online order for deliver tomorrow from Mr T. I've been meal planning, trying to use up stuff in the freezer and fridge and they both look much depleted now, which seems to worry me, strangely. Not really sure why.

I'm still working on getting all the snagging finished for the dining room and I'm really pleased with the results, although I've ruined a T shirt with linseed oil (it was old and slightly too snug, so no biggie). I noticed that my succulent plants are on their last legs - I don't have green fingers at all - so will look at getting something else green once all the work is finished.

Grateful for a quiet day for my stint at breakfast club this morning, for having topped up my Parent Pay account when I had some spare pennies, so the boys could have school lunches today (no bread for sandwiches) and for the chance to catch up on Silent Witness on BBC iplayer

Wow raphael those are expensive. When DS had a quote for them it was just to move one tooth (this was why he didn't qualify for free ones) but he would have needed the full lot top and bottom and we were quoted £2500 which I thought was madness.

Have done quite a bit of cleaning today, walked the dog in the wind and rain, made black bean soup for tea, decluttered quite a few things and consolidated my huge toiletry stash into a smaller area. DH picked the kids up from school which was bliss for me, am planning on having an epsom salt bath later to ease a muscle strain in the hope I have a better run tomorrow.

  • Another NSD yesterday for 6/16, slowly making my way through. I remembered to bring lunch in to work today which helped, so today should be NSD too.

*Dolly* I ordered a single box of that toilet paper twice and then decided to go for the subscription. You can choose how frequently they come and adjust each individual box as well if necessary.
Now I can't run for the foreseeable future, I have signed up to volunteer at Junior Parkrun. Hopefully that will go well and I can continue on with that.

I was going to attempt a NSD by walking to the doctor's and back to get my prescription, but it took me half an hour to recover after having a shower so little bus for me. I loaded the walker up with a large (very heavy) bag of donations and put those in the cs bin at the library at the same time as returning a book.

I bought a can of drink and a chocolate bar at the corner shop as I couldn't carry drink bottles from home on top of the other things. I did well at the doctor's and pharmacy, put my empty drink can in their recycling bin and got off at the stop before my normal one. It's not really any further from my house but called in at little Arseda to drop off old batteries and did a little shop.

50p ys sandwich, 39p ys bag of cross buns, 2 large yoghurts, more drink (non- caffeinated, they were out earlier in the week). Not terribly healthy but easy to prepare and swallow. I will go and recline (but not go into a decline) on the naughty chaise longue.

The magic money bed isn't producing the money itself. I tend to drop change into the bottom of whichever bag I'm using whilst shopping. Mum pays me for taxi fares on the days I go to her house but usually a £10 or £20 note to last several days. If I'm using the same bag a lot (small jute bag for life) then I just scrabble in the bottom of the bag for taxi fares. If I've used several bags I try to move the change when I'm emptying the bag - mostly onto the bedside trolley or the wooden tray which I use for my CPAP machine. Obviously smaller coins will slip between the pills and other small items on there (trying to avoid standing or sitting on pins, screws and other painful objects).

I did a proper tidy before Christmas and rooted out things that were under the bed etc, so there won't be much to find. Quite pleased with what I have found. Did more tidying yesterday evening (seem to get a bit brighter after 6pm) and have lots more list sorting to do. I may even get round to using the notice board I made months ago.

Today I am grateful for helpful, polite builders working on the town hall building, for prompt and efficient buses, doctor's receptionist and the pharmacy staff and for getting things out of the house (one bag at a time da da dah).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

NSD 10/16 here! Today I'm thankful for cooking abilities, a wonderful set of pans and snuggling with the family.
    Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)
  • Bagged a much better nights sleep so feeling more human albeit still very busy. I'm hoping for more of the same tonight. :)
Also bagged a nsd which is a small victory, but I will definitely take it.
I have my next court date through. It might be the last one - you never know.
