So how did Ofgem choose British Gas?
Seems to have been a very bad choice.
Yes, it was the regulator, Ofgem that came to Breeze customer's rescue and appointed British Gas as the SoLR.

This followed a competitive process run by Ofgem to get the best deal possible for customers.

If this was so, how can the handing over of One Select customers to the hopelessly inefficient and incompetent Together Energy be explained??

    Best deal possible???
A tariff that is the most expensive possible - cap tracker!

They have clearly switched Breeze customers to one of the most expensive providers possible.

Just got an e-mail from breeze asking for the "outstanding final payment"
BUT I had already paid it by bank transfer on 18/02/2020.  Hope its just an automated e-mail sent in error and that the payment I made hasn't got lost.
  • Had no issues with Breeze, always provided great customer service and accurate account, until they ceased trading. A DD payment was taken in January and is shown on my account balance. This prompted me to cancel it. Considering reverting to payment by quarterly bill in arrears instead.
I have raised a complaint with B Gas and received a  response to say they will get back to me within 21 days. Enough said.

Yes, the best deal possible for customers overall in all the circumstances.

This has little to do with the tariff you were placed on. There is no one tariff that suits all.
Hence, you were placed on a suppliers deemed tariff rate with no early exit fees.

If customers wish to change their tariff or switch supplier, they should ask to be switched to another British Gas tariff, or shop around. You won’t be charged any exit fees.

I got the email too, haven't paid yet and frankly with the way my world is going at the moment then Breeze and British Gas will be at the bottom of the pile!

Exactly the same for me. I paid my bill by BACS on Sunday. I'm sure the email I received today is just machine generated and it'll take a few more days for the payment to be registered - I see by logging on that it hasn't hit my account yet.
