Have just tried three times to phone BG but got stuck on hold for over 15 minutes each so gave up. Their automated system didn't help when it demanded a customer number I don't have yet!0

Has anyone had one of these emails?
Welcome to British Gas
Hello
Thanks for choosing us as your gas and electricity supplier. This is your contract and it contains everything you need to know.
In this email you'll find:
1
Your tariff information
2
Your Personal Projection
3
Your tariff terms and conditions
4
Where your electricity comes from
You might also like to take a look at:
Our energy supply terms and conditions
Your switching guide
What happens next
We’ll contact your current supplier and arrange the switch. We’ll be in touch for your first meter readings in about two weeks. Then we can make sure you only pay for the energy you use.
If you change your mind
We’re really pleased you’ve chosen us. But if you do change your mind, just give us a call on 0333 202 9802* or you can download our contract cancellation form and send it back to us. Let us know by 10th January 2020, and we’ll cancel your switch straightaway.
Thanks
Your British Gas team0 -
I phoned BG and got through this afternoon.
Was told by the advisor:
BG took our supply over from 22nd Dec.
A query was raised over this which has delayed the switch process (the advisor has said the query would have been raised because of Breeze customers being forced to join BG rather than choosing to)
She said my credit with Breeze will get refunded to me within 28 days and that Ofgem is dealing with this - This contradicts the statements I read that said that BG would honour any credit customers had!!
She has also said that if i wish to sign up to the cheaper BG tariff offered through the MSE Cheap energy club then I could do this as its with BG so as soon as my account is set up it would be switched to this tariff. The tariff we have been placed on was selected as it has no exit fees which wouldn't be fair for us as we didn't choose the tariff or company.
I cant see how a refund will get sorted when no-one has my up-to-date meter readings since beginning of November and am not impressed that the DD was still taken on 23rd Dec!0 -
I got this too hence my post just after yours..katies_mum wrote: »Has anyone had one of these emails?

I got one of them!!
Did anyone do the math further down using the part where it says YOUR PERSONAL PROJECTION
Mine and a few others say £400 for gas and electricity even though we all have different figures for projected usage.
When you work the Gas kwh x the tariff alone the gas comes to £800 + Standing charge at 30p a day
They can not even get there figures right IDIOTS.
I am not waiting for them to switch me,I will cancel the switch and sign up with a company of my choice.
Who are not extorting me??
I would rather lose my £80 credit.0 -
I had the same projection £400 for gas and electricity! looks like its just a standard run of the mill email sent out to us all0

Not received that email yet. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing! Hahaha.0

More phone calls - I got through on the fourth time but was then put on hold and cut off!
Fifth time I asked for them to call me and finally got a decent representative. She confirmed that our supply would be charged on the BG rate from 22nd December but that my account should be fully set up by 14th January. Seems the query they had for me was confirmation of my address and date of birth.
I too received one of those contract emails with the £400 figures.0 -

If you don't supply meter readings your bill will be worked out using estimates, which could work against you or in your favour.Chocmonster7 wrote: »Fifth time I asked for them to call me and finally got a decent representative. I think that's the way things will pan out.
Breeze customers should be prepared to pay about an extra 50% for their energy from 22nd December until (what seems to be) the middle of February. About seven or eight weeks I'd guess.Chocmonster7 wrote: »I too received one of those contract emails with the £400 figures.
My gas estimate is £574.28 based on using 12,000 kWh.
My electricity estimate is £692.24 based on using 3,100 kWh.
These are Typical Domestic Consumption Values (TDCV) for medium energy users provided by Ofgem, which are published here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/gas/retail-market/monitoring-data-and-statistics/typical-domestic-consumption-values.0 -
