Sadly, I'm not sure the d/d guarantee is of any help here, as the regular collection amounts, notified in advance, were still being collected - no breach of the payment schedue has occurred. Whether the collector being insolvent makesa difference, I really don't know.

The advice to ask for a deadlock letter might well yield results, whether the guarantee entitles you to a refund or not - banks often back down under such threats. But I'd be concerned about some kind of chargeback further confusing the calculation about how much balance is carried over from Breeze to BG. It is true my past experiences with BG have been unusually poor, so I have little faith in them, but I would be minded to keep it as simple as possible and not request a refund in this circumstance, unless it turns out that BG have "forgotten" about this post-insolvency dd collection when calculating the amount of credit on your account.

For all the hassle it will create, and the new credit amount will cover what we owe plus some of the new bill.

The moment the new account is set up and British Gas confirm what is happening with the credit in my Breeze account, I'll start the paperwork for my chosen supplier.

    Interesting.

I hope so, but I doubt it hugely considering most material critically references the 22nd December not the 16th January. I believe the info in the online account is nothing more than wrong as on numerous occasions I have had the 22nd December confirmed as the supply change over date. But this highlights a simple issue I have already had with BG incorrect information and unknowledgeable staff. The amount of times I have heard the 18000 customers line is a joke from them.

Either way it is clear that this is taking far too long to sort this mess and one hand does not know what the other is bloody doing.

I also hold Ofgem responsible ultimately for this all as well. In what planet could it work more effective to push an energy supplier out the market giving less competition for what, 500k? Not small change granted, but not a huge amount per customer either.

Although in fairness maybe the true colours show through of Ofgem. I do believe there is a potential for poacher turned game keeper in all of this potentially, I mean how many are likely to have worked for the big 6 previously?...just a thought, whilst the press bangs on about another provider going to the wall rather than the real story of ofgem shafting them at every opportunity.

Thank you JohnB47, so if that is the case then fingers crossed we will only be charged the silly rates from BG from the date our supply starts with them on the 16th to the date our transfer to the company of our choice goes through...fingers crossed

    Email from BG says:
Recently Breeze Energy stopped trading and Ofgem, the industry regulator, appointed us to take over the supply of gas to your home.

Don’t worry, you’re in safe hands. We’ll take care of everything and there’ll be no interruption to your supply.

As of 22 December 2019 you became our customer, welcome to the British Gas family.

My last Breeze statement was produced on 29th December.

I suspect I'll receive a pro rata seven day refund from that statement and it will be recharged by BG at their rates from 22nd December.

And I also suspect the folk at BG's contact centre are as in the dark as we are.

I think the email referring to the 16th is just the auto-generated one that gets sent out for regular switchers and just got triggered as part of the process. As stated, the BG customer services staff are just going on what they see on their screens.

Called BG as requested this morning...the plot thickens.

There is nothing to worry about you need to call us because the account is not finished being setup for those with this warning, allegedly, as please read on...

Apparently there was a discussion meeting for teams about former Breeze customers recently.

I was told supply won't be taken over until the 16th Jan, I then highlighted all the literature that says the 22nd December and the fact that much material says BG we will have a contract with (as per the Breeze website ironically) or that BG will be our supplier from the 22nd and I have that confirmed by BG on their chat facility.

All I got told is that the 22nd December is a from date not the supply date...so I decided to push even harder, if that info was true...so I pushed about tariff.

I was also told that our tarriff at Breeze rates would continue as long as we wanted or until contract renewal :rotfl::eek:. So yes, I called BS at that point and asked for a manager (which took me an age to push for) and am now waiting a call back within the hour.

I have also made a complaint due to the above and also the online account info as in my eyes (and having spent a lot of time designing mass emails) the design just looked like a spam or worse still phishing email (I actually went on the BG website (by critically typing it in clicking no links in the original password email) and asked for a reset to ensure it was the genuine deal). I suspect BG will be busy today after that farce as it says to talk to them.

All in all I was hoping the reviews had no real merit, but they do judging from what I am seeing. I do give some allowance to CS staff, but I am sorry either go and check info and more importantly provide the right information.

I'd take all that with a pinch of salt.

I can't see any reason BG would allow ex-Breeze customers to remain on a tariff that undercuts its own offerings.

I have and hence asking for manager to clear this all up and equally making my feelings known via the complaint, at the least they should be giving the correct info out (I called the CS rep out on the tariff info with BG's own website).

In general as I have said above it is the inconsistent answers and responses that have undermined them even if the rates were better than they are. Breeze well was a Breeze less than a minute waiting and answered easily., something I was at pains to highlight in my call.

Ofgem has a lot to answer for, IMHO.

Edit....had a further call, I had to call myself mind, but yes it is a staggered switch. Those with the 16th Jan will be billed by Breeze until the 15th, some changed over on the 30th, yesterday etc. We have to wait longer, but benefit from breeze rates it appears. So take meter readings on switch over, BG will then pass these on to Breeze apparently.

I have been told the administators of breeze will be in contact for any debt not BG as well.

Noted the dates in my diary for the 16th when my change will go in as well to minimise the time with BG.

It does make sense that BG should only charge for supplies once the switch to them has taken place ie 16th January. Although in the past with me it hasn't been the case. The Breeze administrators will get the advantage of further revenue up to the 15th January and we get the benefit of the Breeze rates we were originally contracted to. To confuse my own issue a little, and against my better judgement, I left the Breeze DD active, and I noticed today that a further payment for this month has been taken from my current account, but as yet does not appear on my Breeze account. Readings I took on 30th January (at Breeze's request.. probably an auto request) were inputted into the Breeze website. They appeared on the site immediately and a statement/account for December was produced.

But I'm content to let BG do the legwork on this, and they won't be getting any DD details until I have a clear understanding of the actual transfer date, rates and discounts and I'll be instigating a switch away as soon as I can.

Dave our December payment went through and it took about 4 days to show, but it is there and was after this announcement so instead of £60 we have about £125 in there.

I suspect it will be a little short to cover us until the 15th Jan, but even so, Breeze rates are much better than BG.

I forgot to add as well for those that have the warnings that they need to talk to you, BG originally was having address verification issues hence why they needed you to contact them and this has now been resolved. I suspect that is the reason the accounts will be slower for some (like me, but hey I am not complaining as Dave sort of said above the longer BG take the better in some odd way).

I think this is who I’ll go with when it’s all sorted
Avro energy .. simple and super save ..this is the tariff details ... very similar to the breeze tariff

    Full Tariff Details
    Electricity Gas
    Standing Charge
    pence per day
    15.750p 15.750p
    Unit Rate
    pence per kWh
    13.965p 2.977p
    Exit Fees
    £ per fuel
    £0.00 £0.00

Has anyone found anything better yet.. and in comparison to the breeze tariff I was on it’s actually slightly cheaper
