No one seems to be chomping at the bit to run November, so I shall get a wiggle on and set it up :D.

Thanks apple. I will volunteer myself for the December thread.

Lovely weekend watching rugby, going out for walks and watching films. A bit of cleaning was done too. Yesterday's walk in particular was very nice, we went along the beach. It was a windy day so we watched the waves crashing and saw a double rainbow :). We then walked up a small hill which gives fantastic views of the beach and sea.

Now up to 13/15 NSDs as didn't spend any money over the weekend. Need some more milk today, don't think we need anything else though. Not much planned for today, my parents are coming up for a few days so will pop round to my gran's later on to see them.

    Afternoon!

I have 38p in the bank and £3.30 in my pocket - I forgot my orangutan charity payment goes out randomly at the end of the month. Still, 38p is still credit! I don't want to have to transfer anything back from my savings account this month - 2 days to get through. Enforced NSDs
So, I rejigged the boiler timer for heat and water - I have to move the fridge freezer to get to the control panel, and last night there was a frost! So the heating came on this morning just after I had sat down with my coffee, after having folded 4 loads of laundry and made lunchboxes. The house warmed up in about 5 minutes and all is well in the world. Well, nobody complained it was cold, so same thing really.

All kids to school on time (yay me!), and 2 and a half hours of volunteering done, and going back for another hour tonight. Fruit bowl full, supper prepped and just needs half an hour in the oven tonight. 2 more loads of laundry done and on the line. Will finish off in dryer after the school run. I had to scrape my car this morning! Woo hoo! Winter is coming! Brrrrr! Boots and a woolly pully today. 2 tins of de-icer in glove box and 2 scrapers too. Will fill up windscreen wiper fluid stuff too - no point it sitting on the shelf in the house when it could be in the car!

And most importantly, I have finished a series of 5 books where the heroine was seriously doing my head in, but I finally finished them, and she did end up with the right man in the end, while causing much death, havoc, and mayhem. So they are off to the c/s and I can finally let her go.

Started next book. So now tea and the news before heading back out on the school run- only 2 separate pickups tonight - wonder if it will be dark by the end of it?

Will let you know..... it is nearly November!!

Oh, jeleaous, we've had the heating on for a month or so now. Our living room drops to 12-15 degrees as soon as it is below 10 outside and the heating comes on at 4:30 to reach 17-18 at 7 when I wake the kids. Stupid metal windows (who ever though it was a good idea to use heat conducting materials) and no floor insulation are to blame I think. Cavity wall was done and the roof but if the floor is cold there is not much we can do. Soon it will be better to leave the heating on all day at about 15-20 (night/day) rather than using the timer.

Spends on 2 x barber haircuts, 2 x advent calendars( taking them with us to leave (wrapped up) with students), small amount of tesc0 shopping. Oh also booked and paid for new car tyre after someone stuck a nail in the side of one of his when parked at shopping centre (3 months old and cost around £125 each :( - and there is no way where it is it could have got in by running over it...) - being changed tomorrow morning before we go.

Thankful for the nail being noticed, a tyre being available tomorrow, heating, dry weather, mywrist splint.

Couple more items added to cs bag:)

Today I am grateful for time with dd, for lovely people who work in charity shops, for catching up with some very good friends over lunch, for a huffin' and puffin' workout, for sleeping well, for eating well, for dh's mouse finally arriving, for a clear and crisp day, for the difference a hoover and a dustpan and brush can make.

  • Hello
I have no idea what has happened to me over October - I've lost count of everything, nsd's, money, plans. I have been so busy, and I ran out of money really quickly this month.
    Must try harder.
Mothernerd I love all of your posts - your stories, quotes and advice. Please don't stop posting any of it. Pleased that you had a good time in the Lakes - I really love it there. Keswick is a lovely town as well. They have a brilliant wool shop that I spend far too much time in... :D
Anyway - I have finally, finally made it to half term. In between hospital appointments, court dates, Ofsted, no money, doctor's appointments etc. I spent the entirety of Saturday trying to relive my crochet weekend and doing nothing else. Didn't work well though as there's always stuff needs to be done in this house - washing, hoovering, litter trays. I cancelled my cleaner this week as I'm just out of cash unfortunately so we had to do the house as well. Yesterday we went to visit some of ex's family so they could see the kids (they haven't since before we were separated), so we stayed overnight in a Premier 1nn and have just gotten home. The washing machine is already on, and I have changed a litter tray. So nothing much changes.

ccl I went in the wool shop - they also do embroidery threads and I could remember the numbers of the ones I had run out of. Then I told her I was leaving quickly before I could be tempted by all the pretty fabrics and interesting crafty bits.

Today was good. I'm not doing anything dynamic as a cough and sore throat are lingering and if I move too quickly the cold air attacks my lungs. Mum did not need any shopping (she had a list when I got there but 2/3 of it I already had spares in the 'soupery') so I took some food (tinned tuna, balsamic vinegar, bread buns from the freezer - 2 left for tomorrow - and chunky veg mix to eat raw with a drizzle of balsamic) + a full bag of sewing stuff.

Took mum to her podiatry appointment mid-afternoon, we were out before the official start of her appointment and taxis were prompt - not bothered as we sat on a bench in the sunshine.

The rest of the time I have mainly been sorting sequins. I also have seperate piles for full/ part/ odd sheets of felt and cut shapes and scraps, untangled a knot of odd threads and wound all stray threads onto pieces or card, needles and pins are safely stashed and shapes and lavender bags (hearts, 5 and 8 point stars, butterflies) in various stages of completion all in little piles (I've taken half of mum's front room window sill, under and on the chair and more still in the bag. Aiming to sort it all out before Friday.

Sequins was the most difficult and urgent job. I need to outline a butterfly (roughly 6" square but butterfly shape) preferably in purple sequins. I have done part of the design on the wings but I want to know I have enough purple sequins to do it all before I start (and they have to be roughly equal quantities so the wings are symetrical). I now have small jars or lids with red, green, gold, silver, pale pink, lime, copper and opaque sequins and an inner from a tart pack with blue/ teal/ and turquoise one one side and purple, purpley pink (two slightly different shades +semi see-through pinky red) and black + brown leaf shapes and a few that have not been sorted but very small quantities of odd or in between colours.

Had to stop to walk round and straighten out my back several times. I really know how to have fun. It was better tthan painting.

Today I am grateful for lovely weather, for the podiatrist making mum's feet more comfortable and for sorted sequins.
