Now up to 11/15 NSDs. Today will be a spend day as we need milk, bread and a few other things for over the weekend. The petrol light came in the car yesterday so better fill up as well. Me and OH are going round to a friend's for tea tonight and I found a bottle of wine in the cupboard to take round with us which saves buying.

A no spend weekend is planned - we will be watching rugby and giving the flat a good clean.

    Today is NSD11.

It is raining, it is due to rain until Sunday, when it will stop for a while.

I am doing nothing productive today (it's official) I have done the school run, gossiped with a neighbour, had a bath and washed my hair, done a bit of laundry and I am on the sofa with a hot cup of tea.

Still have not set the heating to come on timer, but it was on for 2 hours last night and it was toasty. It is definitely getting colder in the mornings now. Will do it at the weekend.

I feel phobic about spending money, so I am not going to.

Have the kids eyetests booked one after the other on Saturday, with both opticians, so hopefully it will not take forever - but DS2 will not wear his glasses and DS3 says his eyes are bothering him when he is wearing his (he wears his all the time). So I have made the appts and we will see.

Maybe on Sunday? I will not be buying lunchbox stuff until Sunday as they keep eating it as 'snack' and then I am short for the rest of the week and end up doing top up shops. So this week there will be no crisps in the house. It probably just means they will switch to bread related products <sigh> but it sends a message.

apple - we were 'under the orthodontist' for 6 months with DS4 and 18 months for DS1 (just finished) but DS3 needs them now but he will not brush his teeth properly , so we have to keep going back to the dentist every 3 months until he is regularly doing it properly. He is nearly 12, I can't do it for him, it is his mouth, he knows he needs to, he is told to, but somehow they think the bathroom is somewhere to muck about in, not to take care of his teeth, with the electric toothbrush, the timer, the disclosing tablets, the brand name toothpastes the dentist told me are better than the ones I was using, and me telling him twice a day and boring myself with the sound of my own voice.

    But what do I know!!

f0xh0les - some friends of ours have 4 boys and they used to hide snacks in the car, in their caravan and in the shopping bags they took to the supermarket.

Was supposed to work today but I was so fed up with it I phoned in sick then immediately felt guilty, I don't get paid so it's my loss. Am on holiday next week so it will be a fortnight before I go back. Payday for DH today so all budgets for November are sorted and money shifted into various pots.

mothernerd - glad you had a nice break.

More frogs have been splattered in the apple household. We have a new front door. And a new 3x4 1kea unit for dd's room.

Today I am grateful for the new door, for the group of 6 or so t1ts flitting around the garden this morning eating bugs, for finally finding gf breadsticks for dd, for a big a$$ salad for lunch, for dd going out to a youth event, for going through some old paperwork and binning much of it, for looking through my 'school' books from when I was 4 or 5 - I'm sure the therapists would have a field day with what I wrote about!

Went to mum's after doing her shopping. Hairdresser has time to cut my hair next week (it's going in my eyes but I have been wetting it and sweeping it further back and across than usual). Came back for film club. It was Harvey which mum has always insisted she hated but she enjoyed it.

As always the man who does the introduction had done his homework. When it first came out, many people assumed the lead character was seeing the giant rabbit because he drank too much whereas he is in fact suffering from mental illness (but is the kindest, most pleasant, content with his lot and actually sanest and most sensible person in the film - he just gave up on normality because the 'normal' people were so petty minded and mean).

Some of the soldiers returning from WWII would have understood but in those days the subject was so taboo that their families would have closed ranks and either contained the 'problem' within the family or expunged th sufferer from the family.

First taxi firm I phoned had an hour's waiting time (the driver who brought us into town was 15 minutes late due to the traffic - the firm was already refusing to go up Wigan Road or pick up from 2 of the main supermarkets - it was taking 3/4 of an hour to get onto and off the SM carpark and the drivers aren't prepared to spend 3'4 of an hour and end up with a £2 fare). We walked round to my favourite firm so that at least mum was waiting inside and they only had a half hour wait.

Back home and not a lot done. I did attempt to go out at about 4 pm but it was still persisting down (my poncho, cardigan, scarf and ruchsack were still sodden from earlier so I turned round upon reaching the front door.

Going to finish reading my current book and get things ready to go tomorrow (2 bags full of bags for the cs and a few purchases if they still have some of the things I saw last week, books and food bank donations to the library, look round the exhibition and check that cs bin).

I am grateful that DS3 took his pizza boxes to the bin and put all his rubbish in two small carrier bags whilst we were away (tried to measure him for his replacement jeans but he had gone to sleep - he was drawing backgrounds for the game he's been working on for most of this year earlier), for all the lovely things I have bought when I was on holiday (think it is going to work out moneywise but must track down the sheets), for mostly being out of the horrid weather, for having picnic leftovers to eat, for easing myself into the day this morning (started to panic slightly but then forced myself back into zen mode, stuff will gte done sometime), for mum accepting the mini decorations I had bought to simplify cake making for the church 'C' fair, for being warm (I let them have the heating on but I'm going to go and turn it off now), for having enough.

    hi all:j

Not an NSD as MILs birthday today & had to buy a few bits, so still on 13/15 atm

Lunch was HM soup, supper not needed as we went for afternoon tea, which was a gift to me from last Christmas & voucher needed using up before November..so no spends there. Had a window seat & watched the river, er roadway. Food was nice & plentiful, so much so that we brought the leftovers with us & had later on. Staff helpfully provided boxes for this purpose, so I didn't have to resort to my plastic bag I brought with me...

Not much clearing done or repairs as the stuff I bought from Wil*o proved useless at sticking the wallpaper where it was coming off. And it is a specific product for that purpose, not happy with that.

Still heavy rain with no indication of stopping & a look downstairs just now proved that the cellar is now flooded, as we live on quite the hill here it's a bit worrying...however it does do this when the water table is overwhelmed, as today. Not unexpected - hey ho we have learnt to raise items off the floor.

Gratitudes: Lovely meal out & no spends, quiet as not many custiomers, invite from relatives to another meal out before we go on hols, new cosy bedding, a dry & warmish place to live..

Popping in to say hi: Hello turtles!!

Life is too short to worry about what others say or think of you. So just enjoy life, have fun and give them something to talk about.

    Good morning.
Just tried to juggle money, but there is no real money to juggle, so managed to move £1.80 in order to bring my budget til payday up to £60. Cross all my turtle fingers (turtle toes?) nothing goes wrong.
All 4 kids have eye tests today -must remember to tell them to take their wallets if they want anything from the precinct.

Rainy and horrid outside. All day yesterday, all day today.

Going to try and get the floorboards in the bay window swapped out today or tomorrow. If I can get that done, a bit of baking, the laundry done, and the kids eye tests, then it is a success.

    6 days til payday.

Super soggy few days here. Freezer finally sorted/ cleaned and inventoried - did lose a couple of very old items to food waste. Also prepped all peppers, carrots, pears and vast majority of apples for freezer - will do remaining apples today.

Currently have tomatoes and garlic slow roasting for lunchtime soup and dough on final prove to go with the soup:) Dinner will be fakeaway
tonight, with hg pears poached in red wine/ OJ and spices with vanilla cream for pud - yum.

Open day for selling my nans house today - 12 viewings booked but I can guess some wont go in this lousy weather. Fingers crossed at least one or 2 make an offer....

A week until payday and OH still has lots of money in his account (haven't sussed out the budget with his new job yet) - so much so that I've transferred £100 to the mtge and am tempted to throw another £100 there later this week.... :T Although I do have house insce to renew this week @ £330, so maybe not! :D

A morning of housework followed by board games and cards this afternoon, I think.

    Happy Saturday, turtles

Eta: 2 flebay sales paid for last night so will get those sorted today, too

It's stopped raining - yay. Went out with DH this morning and made some amazing charity shop purchases. Cleaned the bathroom this afternoon, made chana masala for tea today and mushroom soup for tomorrow. DH nipped to b&q and bought roofing felt for the summer house which he is hoping to get on there tomorrow.
