Today I am grateful for a good night's sleep, for getting a frog speared this morning, for dh building the 3x4 unit for dd, for dd enjoying her dance lessons, for my needlefelting, for going through both my wool and fabric stashes and reducing them quite a lot (two frogs splattered), for a chat with big sis, for the new windows and door being so utterly lovely, for managing to keep off the sugar.

Anyone up for running November? Am happy to sort it, but wouldn't want anyone to feel overlooked if they have some ideas... :rotfl:

Not a lot done - cough and sore throat are back the cold and wet aren't helping my breathing. Feeling sad but not sure if it's post holiday let down or SAD. Took carrier bags to the YMCA and they had sold all the things I saw last week so a NSD.

Took books and donations to the library and went out for a walk after the shops had shut. Very slow and got slower. Sat to watch the tree lights through several colour change cycles. Came home and had soup (keeping it simple - ate more apples, celery, mushrooms and cheese earlier and spicy fruit loaf).

Beloved and I managed to measure DS3 (in multiple places) earlier. Got him as far as choosing new jeans (1 full price and 2 x £10 sale pairs) and a white shirt (he recognised the double 2 brand and recalled that the one I bought him years ago came to the right length on his arms) but most of the PJs were unavailable in his size and he just said no to most of the t-shirts I showed him so Beloved and I will find some another time (he did say he will keep looking at one of his favourite websites). So hard to find things to fit him and then he was criticising the quality of the artwork (he wanted an eevee something - t-shirt/ hoodie but was put off by poor designs).

I think my financial situation isn't as bad as it looks to me atm - lots of little pots squirrelled away, DS2 owes me some (so does DS1 but don't expect to get that back - he borrowed it last year and then got the news that he was being made redundant followed by 'any job' and then back in a proper job with loss of seneority and need to catch up with mortgage payments + constant insomnia and intractable back pain). Going to add things up and see what mum 'owes' me (how much of the 'C' money I haven't yet received has been spent - she did say if I saw things whilst away I should get them). I know there are 2 x £2 coins somewhere in the bottom of my bag to go in the £2 toucan. Just need to get back into being frugal and saving as much as possible.

Today I am grateful for the rain only being light (lots of stuff still soaked from yesterday), for managing to keep in my zen place/ serene core in place and for looking around my home town (several new 'spa' type places - any shopping has been very short and to the point recently).

    Hi all:j

An NSD today so now on 14/15, might even make it this month!

Rain torrential all day & by afternoon water level in cellar had risen to bottom step....that's the most it's ever been. Had to don wellies & go down there to wade around to move fake cmas tree to a safer spot. However, I think a full pack of branded (!) expensive kitchen rolls may not make it, very cross about this..eventually the rain stopped & now it's getting pretty cold.

All food from stores, lunch & supper. Tomorrow will be eating lunch out as it's MILs birthday meal, really not looking forward to it.

Cleared out another high cupboard & painted the inside (2 coats). Hopefully will start being able to put things back later tomorrow. still one more cupboard to go, hard to reach even with the big ladder.

Gratitudes: rain stopping, easy supper invented by me (!), more progress in clearing, finding some more decorating supplies in cellar.

When you find no solution to a problem, it's probably not a problem to be solved, but rather a truth to be accepted.

    OCTOBER gave a party;

    5 Because Change Is Exciting
You think you know what will happpen if you leave. You think it will be bad in this way...good in this other way. You think you've put it off for so long because you're trying to avoid experienciing something. But honestly, you have no way of knowing the thing you are predicting will happen.

As I said before the month began, I have been collecting quotes and snippets and I had 211 of them. I have put things in when I felt they were relevant to things some of you were experiencing. (My original plan was to spend one week each on the themes/ ideas I had put under the four houses in the original post).

If there is anything you would like more of, from poetry to practical steps on getting started, funny bits or solace, all suggestions are welcome. Or even the real life tales of mothernerd (surviving from one disaster to another with hardly any money, a very dark sense of humour, lashings of sarcasm and a determination to not give up, even when I had to crawl).

    Good Morning (just, still)
Well, the as the clocks were going back I forced me to stay in bed until 7.30.

Sooooooo boring. I really have no idea why people like it so much. Dh is still claiming to be ill, so there was no reason to be there awake, so I got up and did stuff instead.
Lovely sunny day here (but forking cold!) so the washing line will be utilised - frost predicted for tonight, so the heating will now be on timer - I know I keep saying it, but I have not yet got around to it. I woke up in the night and had a cold nose, which was great, as it was the middle of the night, and I had a warm duvet to stick it under.

The cupboard inventory has been done, the menus have been planned for the week, and the bits and bobs shop done.

So chasing kids for laundry and pe kits, maybe a spot of baking for lunchboxes, and football are all on the cards for this afternoon. Might finish the Dark Crystal series with the kids.

That is the plan according to F0xh0les.

Wheeeeee - half term is here and today has no plan - I don't even know what we shall eat later :D

I have started some prep for visiting the students ( getting together some tins and packets of nasty prawn cocktail crisps which only ds1 will eat) a1rbnb booked - 2 bedroom apartment with parking and close to ds1's place and cost us £36 for the night :T. OH hasn't officially had his 2 days off confirmed even though he has chased his line manager but he is taking them anyway!

No plans for spending anything today. It is finally sunny so - like f0xh0les - I shall be utilising the washing line. Suspect it wont get fully dry, so can finish off tonight on airer in front of radiator.

Another flebay sale yesterday afternoon, so that is packed ready for PO
tomorrow morning. I have bids on an item which finishes whilst we are away on Tues, so that will have to wait until Thurs to post - but I say on the listing I may take up to 3 days (I usually dont)

Lunchtime is calling.... leftover paprika bbq sausages chopped into couscous with roasted veg and some needs-using-up coleslaw and hg tomatoes methinks - gets rid of some bits and scores at least 2 of the 5 for today :)

    Evening all!!!

Pay day last Friday, and I tend to plan my budget around a 4 week month, and so money for next week comes out of my wages for this month. I have taken an advance, just because I had a shed load of vouchers about to go out of date so made sense to do a big shop and get some cashback - should be around £5 off a £30 shop. Had a day out with parents Saturday, and so no new NSDs claimed yet... Still on 13/15, but should be a spend-free week this coming week.

I had a productive day - besides the shop, all my house chores done, 2 loads of batch cooking for meals this week, and went for a nice walk in the sunshine to clock up some extra steps. I'm not achieving anywhere near 10,000 (nearer 4-5k) but it's better than the few I was doing at work or being sedentary on a weekend.

Have a lovely evening folks and see you tomorrow x
    ;)

Today I am grateful for getting my 6 year mse badge - it was wanting to join nsk's monthly challenges as well as have a mf diary that moved me from lurking to joining up, for a sunny day, for the rugby, for my workout, for an extra hour's sleep/daytime, for dd's much improved ukulele playing.

No one seems to be chomping at the bit to run November, so I shall get a wiggle on and set it up :D.

    Hi all:j

Not an NSD so still on 14/15. Didn't spend whilst out for meal, but called in at Sains local on the way back & got quite a few ys items..

Supper was from stores, but lunch was out.

Got no clearing done before we went but did some when we got back. 2/3 of the high cupboards are cleaned, painted & have some items back in there. Still one to go, & a big pile of things to work through, some to keep, some to bin, some to CS with me on Tuesday..

Got some washing out on the line as it was a nice blowy day, slightly cold though..

Lunch went better than expected, only MIL & BIL there, the rest were 'on holiday' or 'too busy'. Shame as a significant birthday for MIL.

Gratitudes: Pleasant meal out, BILs stories, DD going to her own home tonight, a lie in.
