DS1 has a job interview tomorrow. He was very scathing about his ex-company who have repeatedly lied to them, scrapped the bonuses that made their wages liveable on and then just called them into a meeting on Monday and told them all to go home as they no longer had jobs.
I did more shopping for mum - no hunting for bargains, just went to little Arseda and did the best I could. I have finished painting the shed and the two pieces of wood for her. Don't think the welly painting will work as it's a water based wood stain and they are proper fishermen's wellies and waterproof - did my best but it just ran down and has pooled on the floor (good job I decided to go behing the shed to do it).
Part of my 'C' present arrived whilst I was there. I now have 4 organic cotton, fair trade, double bed sheets and pillowcases. Really looking forward to using them. I also did quite a lot of work on a butterfly shape lavender bag - sewing on sequins to make a wing pattern and then outlining it and matched up 3 or 4 more to sew (just using up all the scraps of fabric, trimmings and home grown lavender). Left it all at mum's (in a bag, in the back room, left strict instructions that it is not to be moved as all the sequins will get messed up again and I will cry. Cleaner had tried to throw out the old hand soap bottle but mum told her I had bought a thing to refill it.
Ate the tuna I made up on Monday, mum had baked potatoes, soup and a sandwich. Today I am grateful for lovely new sheets (last batch I bought were all second hand as I wanted proper cotton sheets, recently bought two singles from a charity shop to keep me going), weather being dry enough to paint, being able to have a shower after (need to phone mum as I took my painting clothes off outside before stepping in and unless she picked them up, they're still outside). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Whoop!!! Pay day has arrived! And we had some money left over from last month's salary (a first in a loooong time) so I've split it between savings and a mtge OP - very sensible of me
Can't decide whether to go supermarket today or wait until tomorrow - lots of housework, so I should wait, really. Can probably scrape by on what's around (need to check if there are any rolls in freezer....)
Getting rid of things in Oct has been a massive success - have donated to foodbank, homeless appeal, local animal shelter, shoebox appeal, lots of stuff to CS, half a dozen items to school for second hand rail, unwanted new items to PTA for raffle/ tombola, a read book to my mum. Sold lots via flebay and fb00k and some books via Z1ff1t. Recycled a bag of clothes via HnM and sent old shoes via kerbside recycling. Sorted through old aromatherapy stuff and recycled lots of jars and bottles. Lots and lots of paperwork recycled or shredded. Some toiletries and cleaning stuff used up (and not replaced) Several games either donated to CS or recycled/ binned (as appropriate for contents) Also gave lots and lots of bags of pears away!! And all the flebay sales meant that my packaging stash (all recycled) in garage has halved. Actually noticed the difference this month - will see if I can continue the same in Nov....
Today (so far) I am grateful for a lie-in, for a cup of tea being brought to me in bed, for OH going into the garage loft to get Hallowe'en decorations out before going to work and leaving me in bed
Will go and do some of this housework now, I suppose...….I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
mothernerd - good luck to DS1.
Payday for me today, every time I get paid it is a mystery what they have actually paid me for, today I was expecting less than I actually got.
We are having a lazy morning in our cottage and then going out to Alnwick. We leave tomorrow but if the weather is good we are planing to go to Beamish on the way home - I really love it there so I am keeping my fingers crossed.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Good day to you,
payday today. Put money in the appropriate pots, put money aside for the car service, took money out for the monthly horse lesson on Sun, paid my xmas works lunch, bought some seeds for next year, and stocked up on almonds etc from a cheap online retailer. Oh, and booked the Panto :xmassmile. Thinks that's it.
Now to finalise the meal plan and shopping list for Sat. Also looking out some more veggie recipes. Don't think I'll do the CRUK veg pledge for November but would definitely try to eat a bit less meat.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Happy Halloween!!!
Weird couple of days here... slipped into a bad place yesterday, but feeling better today. My last NSD has eluded me because of silly unnecessary spends to comfort feed me! Yesterday i used a voucher so thought I'd get for free but it went over... and today I relapsed on a £1 bottle of Pepsi!!! So not bank breaking spends but annoying nonetheless... Willpower of a gnat!!!
01st of the month tomorrow so that always feels positive. I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Mothernerd for this month's thread - I really enjoyed being back, and you gave me lots to think about and work on. Big hugs!!!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Thank you so much for October mothernerd. I have thoroughly enjoyed my mudman status, spearing frogs.
I had 17 NSDs, exercised 21 times, meditated 25 times, took 4 full bags to the Sally Army, books to 0xfam. We replaced the windows at the front, plus the front door and have new nets and curtains as necessary - some are being re-used elsewhere. The fleece curtains are up at the front door and hall door. I have donated to the food bank and to my neighbour. We have met friends for lunch - in their houses.
I truly feel that I am moving nearer to the life I want to be living (although that could be due to having had a 2-week half term... :rotfl:)
