Checking in. Trying to get to grips with my finances and seem to be failing badly atm. This months credit card looking tad high eek.

On the positive side I have got jobs done, drains sorted and new taps and new blind fitted.

Friday did food shop lidls, got fuel and went out for a few drinks in evening. Limited my night ouT to £10 spend.

Saturday took grandkids for a day out to Anglesey. Only spend was £4 car park, as took picnic. Could have parked on the road but looked safer parking on field. With getting buggy out. Had a lovely day out and left before traffic starting building up.

Sunday - Cleaning day, make roast dinner, spending again - bought a new roller blind for my bathroom and managed to fit it. woo hoo. Only a cheap one reused the fittings that were already up.

    Monday - NSD

Today - Eye test and 2 new reading glasses - will hopefully get it all refunded from Medicash as got cheaper glasses to get under my limit of £80. £79 including the eye test. Cancelled cinema tonight - chest still tickly coughing.

Tomorrow joys of emergency dentist well booked it nearly a month ago so money out.

Hairdresser today. £35 for cut colour and blow dry. I like the way she does it and I think it's very reasonable. And it is really my only personal extravagance.

Foodwise we won't need anything else before Friday but Himself might need some medical type stuff. Not sure.

    Lots to do tomorrow.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

f0xh0les - do you have to peel all those apples now?

They were all windfalls, Dolly, I did not pick a single apple from the tree, so I prepped 1/3 this afternoon, and made up a huge apple crumble, and an enormous pot (5l+) of stewed apple with cinnamon and sultanas - the crumble will do at least 12 servings and the stewed apple will be frozen in margarine tubs for 'Ron' . I will probably do another 1/3 this evening and the last 1/3 tomorrow. Some will be chunked with my amazing apple corer and slicer gadget. Best c/s find EVER!!
Loving the politics right now. Fascinating consitutionally. I am a politics-ho

  • Another nsd in the bag, but only because I'm incredibly busy and haven't got time to even think about spending at the moment.
The family/ex situation rumbles on and is infinitely stressful but I spend a lot of time moaning about that on my diary.
Work is quite busy - I'm still not properly used to my timetable and the continual class moves that I'm dealing with. I think though that there's always a little lull in mood and motivation at the beginning of the school year. Chuck open evening and Ofsted into the mix and it's been quite a baptism of fire for someone who's definitely not getting any younger.
    I will keep plodding.
  • Today I am grateful for my brolly, for a smooth (and almost on time!) hospital appt, for not having any buses cancelled, for dd loving swimming, for a chat with big sis, for recorded tv, for good coffee, for my many-headed sunflowers still strutting their stuff.

    Hi all:j

Very jealous of your apple harvest foxholes - we don't have many at all on our tree this year. Will have to go out foraging.

Still on NSD 10/15 as went out yesterday, shopping today & sadly tomorrow as have hair appt I meant to cancel & forgot, so only realised when text reminder came through. So then too late to cancel, have to go & get it over with but does mean more money spent.

Trip out yesterday & the centre of the town we went to was completely shut for the cycling event (for 9 days..). Not possible to park so had to walk in & consequently town was all but deserted. However was able to get many YS bargains as shops were also empty.

Today to CS & even though heavy rain lots of donations in. Friend round in the afternoon for tea - and cake.

Have new approach to housework/clutter due to being inspired by book. Will see how it pans out, but so far going OK.

Food was all YS today...and for the foreseeable future.

Popping in to say hi: Hello Turtles!!

It's a bit different. I am having laptop problems so I thought I'd better get it done (haven't gone back over anything yet). There will be a few checklists and suggestions during the month plus quotes.

Today i did lots of sewing, put the bins out when it wasn't lashing down then planted lots of small plants.

    Claiming NSD 14 and 15.

DS1 is off college due to vomiting, dh is at the dentist this morning, Crumble went down an absolute storm, and nobody complained it was half wholemeal flour. It was lush. Rain again! House still vaguely tidy, so really I am feeling quite on top of things. College parents evening tonight (boo!).

Teacher types: why are there parents evenings for teachers who have only seen the kids for 3 weeks? Surely that is not long enough to know anything or make decisions? I do not understand.

Today involves Apples, Apples, and few more Apples (not complaining, just saying)

  • NSD No 15

I think this will be my last NSD this month. Himself definitely needs some things tomorrow,

So the freezers have been defrosted and the fridge cleaned. Anything that needs frozen has been. Haven't actually packed but everything is laid out ready to go in tomorrow. Tonight's and tomorrow's dinner in the fridge. Think I'm quite organised.
